"The Mediterranean was equally lethal underwater as on surface"[edit]

No it wasn't. Being submerged offered much better protection. I do not believe the four subs lsited as sunk by other subs were sunk while submerged. At least I have been told that the sinking of U 864 in February 1945 was the first time a submerged submarine hit another submerged submarine. I have removed that sentence. -Sensemaker

The problem facing submariners of both sides was that at the time the Mediterranean waters were so clear that a submerged submarine could be seen quite clearly from the air when at periscope depth. Because of this the Royal Navy started painting the top sides of their Mediterranean-based submarines (such as HMS Upholder) dark blue, as opposed to the usual grey. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.7.147.13 (talk) 10:19, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

U-boats sunk...[edit]

I've removed this
"She [U-455] was rediscovered at a depth of 120 metres, 2 miles from Portofino, Genoa by Lorenzo Del Veneziano, a 42-year old professional diver in October 2005"
Theres nothing to support this in the U-455 article, or at her uboatnet page (who generally know this stuff), so I've taken it out, rather than just asking for a citation.
