Updated Borough Council Structure[edit]

Full disclosure: I write a blog covering Media, PA politics called Media, PA News. I updated the current borough council members referenced in this article, and added a link to the blog as well as to an "alternate" news blog run by another citizen. Granite Run Mall[edit]

I took out the trivia because it was inaccurate. The Granite Run Mall is in Middletown Township.


Sidebar[edit]

I added the sidebar to give it a more professional look, closely resembling the Wikipedia Page for Doylestown. I think it's important to update the history to include the county's purchase of four farmlands to form the borough as well as other portions of its past. Merger proposal[edit]

I think that Media Area has got only a tiny subset of the info here, and should be merged. "The Media Area" is not a borough, town, city, township, census designated place or anything else official (and there are tons of official "locations" in PA). Mostly its just a zip code, or maybe a real estate sales term. I'll merge in a few days unless somebody objects. Smallbones (talk) 16:26, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unusual Name... Origin?[edit]

'Media' is a word used a lot today, but not generally as a place name. Can someone add the origin of the name to this page, if it is known? Thanks. SpaceHistory101 (talk) 00:39, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Let's be careful about formatting pix[edit]

Please don't get too creative in formatting the photos in this article. One thing that may not be clear to everybody is that, just because the article appears one way on your screen when you reformat it - it doesn't appear the same way on everybody else's screen. Individuals, for example, have different text size and screen aspect defaults.

The first thing is to place pix on the left as seldom as is possible. Otherwise, you'll get "channels" with text flowing right then left around and between pix if you have more than a few pix in the article.

The second thing is not to use px size for photos. These set in the pix size for everybody - but since everybody has different defaults for other things, it really messes up the whole page. Use the upright parameter to resize pix: e.g. upright=1.10 makes the pix 10% bigger than the default. One exception is that in the notable people section we want to have the smallest viewable pix, which is usually thought to be 100px.

I removed Frank Furness's pic because there were too many pix in the notable people section (given the amount of text in the section) and Furness never actually lived in Media. (He summered in Upper Providence Township.).

Please just be careful when formatting pix, we've got a lot of them on this page, which is fine by me. But do check out the results by looking at different computers, changing the aspect of the window (just resize the corners a few different ways), change the text size, etc. and you'll start to see all sorts of bizarre things if you are "too creative."
