The result of the move request was: Moved per consensus. Added appropriate hatnote on Paul McCartney. — JFG talk 12:23, 2 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

McCartneyMcCartney (disambiguation) – "McCartney" should redirect to Paul McCartney who is the obvious primary topic. Unqualified references to "McCartney" are very easily understood to refer to Paul, and he is well known mononymously (Lennon–McCartney). Note Lennon already redirects to John. The current way this page is set up implies Paul is the primary topic anyway. Why waste time? Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 02:34, 25 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. Paul is well known by his last name only, and is the most notable bearer/most likely to be referred to simply as "McCartney". Nohomersryan (talk) 04:37, 25 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. We'll have to re-evaluate this after little Jeffrey McCartney, 8, grows up and cures cancer someday. But for now, I think it's fair. Red Slash 16:58, 25 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Let It Be (Support) per nom speaking words of wisdom. Randy Kryn 17:40, 25 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose this inappropriate primarytopic grab. A common surname should rate a disambig page. Dicklyon (talk) 05:28, 29 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support most people are looking for the musician instead of the surname or any other topic. SSTflyer 10:31, 2 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
