Too ACBL-specific[edit]

This article reads as though the ACBL is the only bridge organization awarding masterpoints. I know that that's quite wrong, but as I've only played in the ACBL myself I don't know how wrong, so I'm not the right person to fix it. Probably there should be (1) a lead-in section introducing the concept, (2) a section describing the way points are used (as well as limited and stratified games, it should mention bracketed ones and those with a minimum point requirement); then (3) a series of sections for each bridge organization that issues them. The details of pigmented points in the ACBL belong in its section, for example.

Are there any bridge organizations where masterpoints don't accumulate indefinitely? I don't know that either, but if so, it needs to be covered.

Some inaccuracies in the ACBL titles[edit]

There are a couple of inaccuracies in the requirements for ACBL titles. First, the colored point (silver, red, gold, platinum) requirements for the higher ranks (Silver Life Master and higher) do not apply at all to anyone who was already a Life Master by January 1, 1989, and their effect is delayed for anyone who was a Life Master by December 31, 2011. Second, the requirements for the higher ranks also include the requirements for Life Master status. In other words, collecting 1000 points which include 200 silver points will not make you a Silver Life Master because you will not have satisfied the red/gold/platinum requirement for Life Master status.

In addition, I believe it remains the case that anyone who collected any red points before the creation of gold points (I think January 1, 1974) can achieve Life Master status without needing to satisfy the gold point requirement. True, there probably aren't many remaining non-Life Masters who fall within that category, but I think it's still on the books, and in any event should probably be noted as a matter of historical interest.
