In this article, the claim is made that Mark Haskell Smith's novel, "Salty," is on NPR's "100 Best Beach Books Ever" list, and ... it's not. The footnote is a link to a publisher making the claim, not a link to the "100 Best Beach Books Ever" list (on which the novel in question does not appear).
