The Velvet Parachute (Marasmius elegans) is one of about 500 species of mushroom in the Marasmius genus of agarics. Most members of this genus are small, unimpressive brown mushrooms, making them not readily distinguishable to non-specialists, and therefore seldom collected by mushroom hunters.Photo: JJ Harrison
