Did she really say this?

The following quote was added to the article: "I figure that if Jesus could die so that all of my wrongs could be forgiven, I can certainly extend that same grace to you." Elimination

I'm going to leave this in the talk page for now since I haven't seen it confirmed except on message boards [1], and even then I'm not sure how enyclopedic this passage is:

After Mandisa was eliminated, a group of audience members supposedly yelled out a racial slur, which was edited out due to a 15-second delay in the live broadcast.

There was no racial slur yelled out. The reason everyone looked so shocked is because Mandisa was a strong favorite to win the competition, so when she got booted, having never been in the bottom 3, everyone collectively "shit their pants", so to speak. Some careful video editing and a vague story of "racist remarks" makes it believeable, but there has been no official source whatsoever to have reported this. --JOK3R 06:18, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Overweight

Do you think it's a little too harsh to say "Mandisa is overweight" in the article? Would "Idol judge Simon Cowell made several comments referencing her weight during her audition" be better? Purplenite 01:23, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

She has admitted herself to be "overweight". Consider her reference to "lifestyle" when people thought she met homosexuality. She said her comment was based off of her weight and how she's always given in to temptation with food. Michael 23:20, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Is there a Wikipedia policy concerning single-name stage names? IIRC, Mandisa always just went by "Mandisa". If that's her stage name, then the article should probably remain "Mandisa". SnappingTurtle 13:03, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
See Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people). From the guidelines on that page: "The most used name to refer to a person is generally the one that Wikipedia will choose as page name." Based on that, this page is already named correctly. -- MisterHand 13:36, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

In the case of Fantasia, such is necessitated due to disambiguation issues. If another Mandisa comes along, then a move may be needed, but otherwise, all should left as is. CrazyC83 00:54, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Change in Discography Layout

I have asked you to explain why you made the changes. You still have not done that here or in the edit summaries. You are removing information from the article without a reason. If she had her own discography article then the changes you are making would be okay because the charts/sales information would be contained on her discography article. Your explanation makes no sense, since you actually removed the columns of the albums that you claimed you put in. Per WP:BRD, you need to discuss with other editors to gain a consensus, not just make a statement and continually make the same changes over and over again. "Looks better" is your personal opinion and to change the layout you need to convince other people and gain a consensus. Where exactly in this edit, [2], does it list the debut on each chart and the sales? The answer is nowhere. You are deleting the information from the article that you claim you are adding.
I have asked you numerous times to gain a consensus, you seem to interpret this as adding one comment on here and making the change back. To gain a consensus for your contested change, you need to convince other editors through a discussion. Until you are able to gain a consensus through discussing with other editors, I am going to revert back to the version that contains more information. Aspects (talk) 22:15, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

I reverted your change because I have continually asked you to gain a consensus here before changing the discography layout because your changes have been contested in the past. Even though they are the same in this case, an album chart debut is not important in discographies, the peak chart position is important. You keep deleting sourced information that you claim you want in the article such as the album sales this time. But, I put a "column" on every album or EP she has released that tells the peak position, and sales, and its easy to read, check it out!

I am talking about keeping the release date and sales information in the discography section, which are some of the reasons for having a discography section. Discography Page

I have created a page for Mandisa's discography. This includes her albums, EP's, Singles, and other appearences. It also includes Peak positions, and sales. Would it be safe to delete the charts for singles, and guest appearences on her main page? Or does it still need to be posted? And please don't delete the page, took alot to make it.

It's Christmas placement in new discography section

I am starting about the placement of It's Christmas in the new discography section. On Wikipedia, albums generally fall into three categories: studio, live and compilation. For an example of this see Mariah Carey, where Merry Christmas is listed in the studio albums section. Since It's Christmas is a studio album it belongs in the studio album section along with True Beauty and Freedom. Aspects (talk)

Merry Christmas was recently moved to other albums with no edit summary so I moved it back, as I will do to the same to It's Christmas here, plus I will change back the dates back to the end since you have given no reason for your reverts. User:Explicit provided an edit summary of "Per WP:LOW#Discographies" and you provided no edit summary as to why you are making the revert. When you click "Undo" it states "If you are undoing an edit that is not vandalism, explain the reason in the edit summary. Do not use the default message only." Explicit's edit was clearly not vandalism, but was a Manual of Style edit. You need to start using edit summaries each time you make an edit. Aspects (talk) 22:12, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

What if We Were Real

Would it be okay to go ahead and start working on the What if We Were Real page now? I think there is enough sourced information from interviews, reviews, etc. to make a page. Or is it better to wait for the Track Listing and things like that?--Hayden White

Recent reverts

Aspects, first of all, you said that "no explanation" was given. Well, you didn't give an explanation why you reverted the first time. The reason why it is incorrect to use ordinal numbers in this situation is grammatical. Basically, in order to have a "second" (for example), there needs to be a "first" (mentioned earlier in the paragraph). "Ordinal" means to put in order (in sequence). And so, that's why the vast majority of times any article talks about a TV season, it says "season __."

Now on a deeper issue, editors of wiki sites are supposed to work together in cooperation—sort of give and take (lest there be edit warring). When you changed "No." to number, even though that was wrong (or at least totally unnecessary—it is the preferred way when speaking of a music chart position), I let that go. The way it was listed before was in order from the lowest place, the medium season and the highest show. I have worked on numerous television show articles and I do not believe I have placements listed as being in "season ___" and as I stated all of the American Idol uses the form "__st/nd/th season." Also I believe this is the grammatically correct way of listing the information. In regards to "No." I have never seen this used before as a substitute for number. As for the current discussion has been started per WP:BRD, you should not have reverted especially when there was no reply in my part. AS there is no consensus on the change, I am going to reestablish the stable version that has been used for years. Aspects (talk) 23:30, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Every American Idol season article is titled: "American Idol (season __)" In fact, every TV series season article's title is done the correct way. I even picked a random AI season article and counted the uses. I found 10 times written correctly, and twice the incorrect way. I too have worked on many TV show articles, and most of the time it was done right, and when it wasn't, I corrected it. And I have never had anyone revert it before.
Saying that something has been done for years is not a good enough reason to revert a valid revision.
I have compromised with you (and I stand by what I said about "No."). I think you should learn to compromise, and to respect other editors. --Musdan77 (talk) 04:27, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
