Removed by an anonymous IP with no edit log or reference[edit]

If the following are no longer true, then perhaps someone can cite a reference to the change. Rather than simply deleting the information, perhaps it can be stated that it was true, once, but is no longer so:

Ironically some gorse bushes, an introduced invasive species, are maintained on Mana Island. The gorse provides protection from predators for the Cook Strait giant weta which are active at night.
Mana Island is the only New Zealand rodent free island that still has a jetty. It is illegal to land on Mana Island without a permit and there have been calls to destroy the jetty to limit this temptation.

As far as I am aware their continues to be both gorse & a jetty at Mana Island. Ka ro ra 11:27, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am a local to Porirua and visit the island at least once a month. I can confirm that a) there is now no jetty b) unlike Kapiti, visitors do not require a permit, although they need to report to the ranger on arrival. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikado123 (talk • contribs) 06:09, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
