Untitled[edit]

I just want to fix the character section here, as it will take a while.

Someone should update the page. There's another 2 Episode OVA called Major: Message. I believe it's 13 years later. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.197.157.19 (talk) 07:31, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Characters[edit]

Main[edit]

  • Honda Shigeharu

Honda Shigeharu is an up and coming baseball pitcher for the Blue Oceans. A shoulder injury threatens to end his career early on when his friend and teammate, Shigeno, suggests that he try batting. He tragically dies after being struck in the head by a pitch from Joe Gibson, a pitcher that had come to Japan from the Major Leagues.

  • Honda Goro

Son to Honda Shigeharu. Having to cope with his fathers death kind of had some rough upstarts in his baseball game. Which he also had a grudge against Joe Gibson. Which he wanted Joe to give him back his dad.

Now, more than ever he trains as hard. To live up to his father's legacy.

  • Momoko Hoshino (Momoko-sensei)

Momoko Hoshino was Goro's nursery school teacher when he was younger. After Goro left nursery school she dated his dad and was eventually engaged to him when he died. She adopted Goro and has since married Shigeno.

She (like Goro's former mom). Gives him the support in any way she can

  • Shigeno

Shigeharu's friend, now turned Goro's dad. He (like with Shigeharu), also encourages Goro to do his best in baseball. Which when given the time they practice almost everyday.

Supportive Cast[edit]

Season 1[edit]

  • Shimizu

The only girl on the Mifune Dolphins team, she joined the team out of guilt because she bad mouthed baseball in front of Goro, she was reprimanded because she hasn't played the sport before. Although she is one of if not the weakest member of the team, she spurs the team on with her passion for the game. She plays in the right field and bats last for the dolphins. She can also play as a catcher.

  • Sawamura

Another one of Goro's class mates who was brought onto the team, he joined the team to make up for the bullying he was doing to Komori. Because of his athleticism as a footballer, he plays in centre because he can cover a lot of ground.

  • Komori

A class mate of Goro, he was continually bullyed by Sawamura and his friends until Goro came along to help him out. Komori plays as the Catcher for the majority of the Dolphins run in the tournament. His father, like Shigeharu also plays for the Blue Oceans albeit for the reserves, but as a catcher.

Season 2[edit]

  • Yamane

He does to Komori and his friend. What Sawamura used to do to Komori back in season 1. That is, bullying. But due to some persuasion, he eventually joins Goro's team

  • Shimizu

She's now the captain of her softball team.

  • Sawamura

He is now the captain of the soccer team.

  • Komori

He is now the captain of the baseball team.

Season 4[edit]

  • Butler

One of the many players on Goro's new formed team; Memphis Bats of Memphis, Tennessee. Often the hot-blood of the group. And tends to take jokes aimed at him more seriously.

Zeta Nova 23:35, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Jeff

MAJOR's answer to Prince of Tennis' Inui Sadaharu. In which he collects data and takes things seriously. Zeta Nova 22:16, December 3 2008 (UTC)

The manga[edit]

Hi, I want to add information about the manga series, but I'm not sure if I should create a different article for it. Since the manga is the original series, and anime an adaptation, it feels weird to put the manga information under the (anime) article. -Pan Sola 18:24, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As a follow up, after reading the article naming guidelines, I've renamed the article to Major (manga) to adhere to them. -Pan Sola 20:45, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Naming conventions[edit]

  • Goro - In volume 47 of the manga, on our main character's passport his name is spelled "GOROU". However, at the Anaheim Salmons Spring Training, he wrote his own name down as "Goro". I'll be using "Gorou" as the standard in the article, as that is what's on his passport. Nevermind, after checking the policy I realize the standard should be "Goro" .
  • Sato - During the Baseball World Cup, Sato's name on the scoreboard (the thing that lists the batting order) was spelled "SATOH". I'll be using "Satoh" as the standard in the article.

Links to Japanese Wikipedia[edit]

This article includes both the anime and the manga. In the Japanese Wikipedia there are separate articles on the manga (at http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAJOR ) and on the anime (at http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%A1%E3%82%B8%E3%83%A3%E3%83%BC_(%E3%82%A2%E3%83%8B%E3%83%A1) ). Is there any way to link to both Japanese articles? Giles Martin (talk) 14:51, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Fails:
  1. Episode list (broken) "List of Major (manga) episodes"
  • Issues:
  1. This plot summary may be too long or excessively detailed. Please help improve it by removing unnecessary details and making it more concise. My recommendation is to go with the basics and lose some of the intricate details.
  • Recommendations:
  1. Consider adding more links to the article; per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links) and Wikipedia:Build the web, create links to relevant articles.
  2. This article has no or few images. Please see if there are any free use images that fall under the Wikipedia:Image use policy and fit under one of the Wikipedia:Image copyright tags that can be uploaded. To upload images on Wikipedia, go to Special:Upload; to upload non-fair use images on the Wikimedia Commons, go to commons:special:upload.
  3. Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (headings), headings generally should not repeat the title of the article. For example, if the article was Ferdinand Magellan, instead of using the heading ==Magellan's journey==, use ==Journey==.
  4. As done in WP:FOOTNOTE, footnotes usually are located right after a punctuation mark (as recommended by the CMS, but not mandatory), such that there is no space in between. For example, the sun is larger than the moon [2]. is usually written as the sun is larger than the moon.[2]
  5. See User:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 1a for more recommendations to work your article up to a higher category.
  6. You may wish to browse through User:AndyZ/Suggestions for further ideas.
