Vardak ProvinceWardak Province – Much the more common name - 20,000 google hits to about 600. Also the form preferred by the Afghanistan Information Management Service. OpenToppedBus - Talk to the driver 16:49, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Much of the census data for the Pashtuns is actually very inaccurate. The problem lies with the very conservative nature of the Pashtuns in that often times women are not accounted for in the census reports. In many instances, reports are being posted from local figures which have not made it into any official figures yet have a better realization of the statistics. 66.74.219.199 (talk) 22:32, 24 August 2008 (UTC)jamd[reply]

Where did Luis Dupree, Aghanistan (Princeton University Press) get their information from? Did they conducted a census? Did they visited all the districts and provinces of Afghanistan? If the answer is no, than how are they more accurate than AIMS (UNHCR and AIMS have came up with the stats together). (Ketabtoon (talk) 05:14, 25 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Wardak or Wardag[edit]

Wardag (وردګ) is the only province in Afghanistan named after a Pashtun tribe and majority of Wardags are from that province. In Pashto, the name is written as وردګ not وردک. That means there is a "g" at the end, not a "k".

You can pronounce it as "Wardak, Werdak, Vardak, Vardag, Wardag etc" however the official spelling is "Wardag" [1]

http://www.mwardag.gov.af is the official government website of the province. As you can see, they have written it as Wardag not Wardak.

In Pashto it is written as وردګ while in Dari(Farsi) it is written as وردک. (Ketabtoon (talk) 05:11, 25 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Reasons for innaccuracy[edit]

There are some racist facists who have nothing better to do then destroy Afghanistan by going on every Wikipedia page falsifying and exagerating the information in favor of a few ethnic groups. The Pashtun Wardag make up most of the province of Wardag, end of story. There are some ethnic minorities, but there is only one area that is non-Pashtun and that is Behsdud, thats the exception. So I dont understand the false cries and arguments from the nutcase above me, its really disturbing when you so blatanly lie and distort facts out of hatred and your insane extremist political doctrines. The province of Wardag is the home of the Pashtun tribe of Wardagi people. A few ethnic minorities have been included in this region, simply to disadvantage the Pashtuns in elections. But the Wardagi people are proud of their land and are loyal Afghans, therefore this page will be monitored to avoid anymore hooligans taking advantage of the freedom of speech wikipedia provides. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.169.145.228 (talk) 04:51, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion[edit]

The official name of the province indeed is Maidan Wardak. Instead of creating a new page, user Muxlim should have just moved the original Wardak Province article to the new name. This way, we would have been able to keep it's history, discussion and other related pages with the article. (Ketabtoon (talk) 01:54, 16 December 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Help Needed[edit]

I need someone to pronounce اوږد in the Wardak dialect [with foucs on ʝ] so I can upload it to the dialects page. Also from the Wardak dialect pronouncing any words with ږ ښ. If you speak any other dialect upload any words with ښ ږ څ ځ ژ. If you upload the file on Wikimedia Commons and post it to my talk page specifying ur dialect - I will add it to the dialects page. Its to raise awareness on Pashto dialects
