Reviewer: TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 04:28, 9 May 2011 (UTC) I apologize, but I am a tedious reviewer. I will be reviewing this article to learn the subject matter, instead of because I know it. Bear with me. The article is long and this will be a lengthy review.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 04:28, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Initial thoughts:

WP:LEAD
  • I have read the LEAD, which is 2493 characters of readable prose. I believe the final version should be less than 3000 characters, but the current version leaves me wondering things about his background. I think you need another paragraph, which might mean other things need to be trimmed. As a rule of thumb, each section of the article should be summarized in a well-structured article.
What kind of educational background did he have?
Did he have strong theological beliefs?
Who influenced him and whom did he influence?
The reader will understand how important he is, but I am not sure they will understand why. What exactly is his legacy.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 04:55, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Infobox

Glancing at the article, I notice several (over 20) entire paragraphs without inline citation and even complete sections (Champaran and Kheda) without any references. Particularly annoying are the quotations without citations. There are multiple citation needed templates. This article needs a lot of work before becoming a GA. I am failing it without prejudice against renomination after it is properly cited.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 04:55, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
