Aaah, the memories...[edit]

My family and I religously skied Magic from 1973-1987. For many years, we held season passes, and later became ski patrol members. Amazing challenging terrain, notably the Twlilight Zone, Upper "Upper-upper" Magician, and my favorite, the Talisman. In the late 1980s, significant blasting, bulldozing, and trimming was done, which imho detracted from some of the terrain. Also, some longer trails suddenly showed-up as two or three on the map, to make it appear an expansion had been done.

Magic was great during it's day, but economics and changing weather patterns took their toll. To us, the Thorners were always fair and kind.

"Need better citations than a web forum post"

Jrclark: this mere "web forum post" includes information posted by Jim Sullivan, the president of the mountain. Do I need to put the exact quote from his posting for it to be 'acceptable' to put it up here? Others will surely fill in more details as time goes on, I felt it relevant to share this information with others curious about the status of Magic Mountain. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chiaroscuro (talkcontribs) 18:55, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Chiaroscuro, an unconfirmed web forum post is not an adequate reference. See [1] - "Anyone can create a website or pay to have a book published, then claim to be an expert in a certain field. For that reason self-published media, whether books, newsletters, personal websites, open wikis, blogs, Internet forum postings, etc., are largely not acceptable". A posting on the official web site or some sort of news document does suffice, however. A brief check did not result in anything from the Magic Mountain web site, however I did find a news article to cite. Jrclark (talk) 11:30, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
