Suspicious Link[edit]

I have moved the following link from the article to here pending full removal:

First the link leads to a registration page of some sort ... one that provides no relevant information about Madison, VA or any indication that registering would lead to any specific information on the topic. Also looking at the URL itself shows nothing that could be reasonably construed as a link to any specific content ... and certainly nothing that would link to "Events and Festivals" in this tiny little township.

Unless someone can make a compelling argument for keeping this link I plan to remove it entirely from this talk page as well. It basically looks like spam that's intended to generate registrations (personal name, address and other private data). (I'll also be searching the rest of wikipedia for other occurences of this). Follow up: After searching for other links to AssociatedContent I find that there are a number of links to valid content which is viewable without registration nor login. Most of the content I've seen there is of notably low quality --- but it doesn't appear to be outright spam. The link I removed fom this case seems to a user's error: failing to link to any particular article at the site. JimD 03:56, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Formerly Madison Court House[edit]

I don't have the skills to do this, so I'm asking that someone more knowledgeable than I do it.

Madison was once named Madison Court House. This was the style in Virginia in days past. Is it possible for someone set this up so a search for Madison Court House will bring one here? I am not asking for the article to be renamed, just an alternative search term.

There are several sources I found quickly referring to the place by that name https://ehistory.osu.edu/books/official-records/060/0107 https://www.lva.virginia.gov/public/vnp/results.php?counties=Madison&submit=Search+by+County (Madison Greene Free Press entry) https://currency.ha.com/itm/obsoletes-by-state/virginia/madison-court-house-va-blue-ridge-turnpike-co-5-jan-13-1862-jl-pm15-05-pcgs-very-fine-20/a/141908-83234.s

It also appears by that name in the excellent book, "Fredericksburg, a Study in War," by Major G. W. Redway of the British Army, which I am currently reading.
