Why use of present tense in the article?[edit]

Seems to me that this grenade is not currently in use though the article is written in present tense. Can anyone please clarify this? Also some dates are not explicit (i.e.: have a "?" in place of a digit), hence this information should be provided or the incorrect dates removed.
