Needs updating in light of the announcement of the opening of the final section of the motorway. http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/1222/m7_motorway.html Doopa (talk) 14:14, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest merging this with N7 road. There's no additional information here that I can see, any that there is should just be merged.

Considering the fact that the M7 is part of the N7, and the blurring of the lines between motorway and "high quality dual carriageway" (e.g. as Limerick-Nenagh will be), I really don't see the point to two separate articles.

Agree. There is consideration being given to reclassification of certain HQDCs to Motorway to protect them from development threats - so parts of the N7 may well become M7. (Sarah777 22:07, 25 January 2007 (UTC))[reply]

I also think it should be deleted too. How does it happen? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Asteroid (talkcontribs) 22:47, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I think, given the fact that almost all of the N7 route will be designated the M7, this page should be kept.

In 2010 when the M7 upgrade is complete, the majority of people will probably refer to the road as the 'M7'. It would make no sense for the main article on the route to labelled the 'N7', when the part signed as 'N7' would only make up small sections of the entire route.

YES, the M7 is legally defined as the N7, but the majority of people looking up this page in a year or two will type 'M7' into the search box. At that stage, instead of having a dedicated N7 article, a small section of the M7 article could be used to explain the legality of M7 and describe the remaining sections of the N7 route.

For the moment, however, the current set-up is fine. I don't see why so many people are desperate to have it deleted. If people want information specific to the M7 Motorway, then they should be able to look it up without having to read about the N7 as well. Likewise if people want to read about the Dublin to Limerick route, as a whole, they are entitled to read the N7 page. There is nothing to be gained from the deletion of this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.16.158.147 (talk) 21:37, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Motorway Page - Template[edit]

This page looks a little bit untidy...

We now have three motorway specific pages - the M7, M8 and M50. In time, we'll probably have an M9 and M6 page as well.

The M50 page is fine as is, but I think for all the inter-urbans there should be a common layout:

> Introduction > Route - Route Part A - Route Part B etc. > Future - Upgrades To Existing Sections - Sections Under Construction - Proposed Service Areas - Other Improvements > Junctions

I'm going to change this page to reflect this layout so that it's similar to the M8 page. At the moment it's a bit inconsistent. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trans5999 (talkcontribs) 13:35, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Good work.

Photographs[edit]

The current picture, whatever it is, is not the M7. I'm going to look for a suitable one to change to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.203.38.20 (talk) 17:44, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I've replaced that picture. More are required, however! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.203.38.20 (talk) 18:41, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I probably have some pictures somewhere. Anyway, great job! I see you've tidied up the page further and transferred most of the M7 information from N7 page. It's definately a more respectable page now, with pictures, this'll be perfect. Now I have to start working on the Atlantic Corridor page. Junction Numbers Finished[edit]

I've created pictures for junctions 20 to 32. I will edit the appropiate pages to include these. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trans5999 (talkcontribs) 22:18, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Engineering difficulties over Anaholty bog[edit]

I came here hoping to read some more detail about the engineering difficulties of building a motorway over blanket bog as described briefly in http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2010/0928/breaking40.html, but zilch. Does anyone have access to the details? --Red King (talk) 13:57, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

First motorway in ireland[edit]

I have reinstated "Republic of Ireland" as the first section of theM1 motorway (Northern Ireland) was opened in 1962. http://www.ciht.org.uk/motorway/m1nistat.htm http://www.wesleyjohnston.com/roads/m1.html http://www.cbrd.co.uk/motorway/m1-ni</ref> Belmonter (talk) 12:01, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

POV edit. There is no mention of NI or the island in the entire article. Please refer to WP:IMOS for guidelines. Murry1975 (talk) 09:23, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As the topic is only about the state this is not needed. There are multiple discussions on the topic in WP:IMOS. As per WP:IRE-IRL the lead should link to [[Republic of Ireland|Ireland]]. Adding it in is pruely POV and aganst the essence of IMOS. There isnt a mention of the island or NI so why add?
Simply adding in the description of the state to disambiguate against nothing is unwarranted. Adding a factoid then to add this would be unwarranted to. Murry1975 (talk) 09:27, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for taking time to post the above. You ask why I made the change to "The section of the motorway bypassing Naas, an 8 km stretch, was the first section of motorway to open in Ireland", it was simply to clarify for the casual reader that this section of M7 was not the first section of motorway in Ireland. Now that I understand that there are processes and issues which are more important than clarity I will leave as is. Belmonter (talk) 16:21, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
