clarification[edit]

The article mentioned that the growler is similar to the "panhard" following the linkage it takes you to the panhard article which is apparently a manufacturer. presumably what the growler article means WRT panhard is that the growler is similar to the Panhard/Peugeot P4 which is apparently a modified mercedes G-Class.

in reality the Growler is a development of the classic korean war staple M-151 "Jeep". one might also say that it's similar to the AIL Storm, or some of the other legion of Jeep related vehicles. There have been news articles about the poor reflection of the Growler story in wire, and newspaper articles, mentioning that cost overruns from bungled procurement have more then doubled the cost per unit, and to an observer, shows what appears to be very poor management. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.66.245.35 (talk) 17:25, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this article was first started by this user after reading unflattering articles stating that this was a derivative of the M151. Weren't early proposals or development models based on M151 parts, and the company that produced it a specialist in M151 derivatives? Any sign of that appears to have been thoroughly scrubbed, and there is no mention of many of the controversies, which appear to have been shortened to a sentence or two. Anyways, good to see an up to date picture, and update on its service status.
