Memorial paragraph[edit]

@Thats Just Great: I'm not sure that every lynching article needs an identical paragraph and image about the memorial? Surely a sentence with a link would suffice - I don't see how the statue and vista are relevant to Jones specifically. –Roscelese (talkcontribs) 01:56, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The nature of the memorial is that each community has a block inscribed with the lynchings on it. The idea is that each community will take this block and install it. Whether or not this has happened can be added later. -- Thats Just Great (talk) 04:34, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Thats Just Great: To be clear, what I'm proposing is something like replacing:
The National Memorial for Peace and Justice opened in Montgomery, Alabama, on April 26, 2018, in a setting of 6 acres (2.4 ha). Featured among other things, is a sculpture by Kwame Akoto-Bamfo of a mother with a chain around her neck and an infant in her arms. On a hill overlooking the sculpture is the Memorial Corridor which displays 805 hanging steel rectangles, each representing the counties in the United States where a documented lynching took place and, for each county, the names of those lynched.
with:
Jones's name is inscribed in the National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Alabama, on the slab dedicated to lynching victims in Schley County.
I don't see how the Akoto-Bamfo statue, the acreage of the memorial, etc. are relevant to this article in particular. –Roscelese (talkcontribs) 16:19, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
How about the changes I made? -- Thats Just Great (talk) 16:29, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Thats Just Great: I still think we don't need to talk about things unrelated to Jones in the article about Jones. –Roscelese (talkcontribs) 23:23, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's an article about Jones' getting lynched. A memorial, in part, dedicated to him is related. -- Thats Just Great (talk) 05:27, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What didn't you like about my proposal? –Roscelese (talkcontribs) 12:46, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
