Emotive and outdated language[edit]

I've changed some words that seemed more suited to an old martyrology for the faithful than to a current secular encyclopedia, e.g.: 'native'/‘Indians’ to 'Kumeyaay', 'howling band of natives' to 'band of warriors', 'pulverized' to 'smashed', 'mangled body' to 'body', ‘resolutely walked’ to ‘walked’, ‘lie in repose’ to ‘lie’. I've also added a sentence about the context of Kumeyaay resentment. I haven't myself read the original source for this - Young and Levick's The Missions of California - but took it from the Wikipedia page for Mission San Diego de Alcalá. Hope that's okay, policy-wise? My aim was to lessen the effect of portraying noble and saintly monks facing an irrational mob of savages. If anyone thinks I've gone too far, please feel free to make changes. Meticulo (talk) 02:10, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

== Changing Luís to Luis ==p

Luis was never written with an accent in any time period, in Spanish. An article is cited that uses Luís — maybe the source of this article's spelling — but it's wrong too. The (modern) Catalan form is Lluís, but to my knowledge he never used it; at that time people from Catalan-speaking regions typically concealed rather than displayed their Catalan language. deisenbe (talk) 00:51, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
