Lovano's book[edit]

If anyone is interested in Cinna, Lovano's book is a must-read. There's a Google Books preview online (linked under Further Reading in the article), so you can decide whether it's worth laying hands on. I haven't had time to read it except in snatches, but Lovano's point seems to be that the ancient sources we depend on for Cinna tend to be pro-Sulla and pro-aristocratic; this is the anti-popularist bias that T.P. Wiseman has recently explored in Remembering the Roman People. It's a worthwhile book for putting the P back in SPQR. Cynwolfe (talk) 15:20, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite[edit]

This post is to inform the talk page that I overwrote the older version of this article (that diff) with a rewritten version largely based on Lovano (2002), Keaveney (2005), and Seager (1992) in CAH2 9. The reliance on Bennett in the older version of the article is not entirely great, per note in Bulst (1964).

Comments appreciated ; I'm sure that if there are quality portions in the original version, they could be moved over without much difficulty. I did a somewhat cursory review of the old article looking for well sourced material that would be wroth adding and did so where I thought it contributory.
