The use of the term "Big Orange" was popularized by former Vol Network broadcaster John Ward in the late 1960s; at the time of the game cited in the article, the "Voice of the Vols" had just recently switched from being Lindsey Nelson to George Mooney; Ward was still five years or so from doing his first basketball game and further than that from taking over football, so I have my doubts if Michaels is the true source of this (in)famous quote and won't accept it without a citation proving it. 2600:1004:B118:340:3591:E0F7:FC3D:9AFB (talk) 02:48, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
