History[edit]

Actually, Long Beach HS existed before 1971. The original building, on Lindell Blvd. in the western section of Long Beach, was a WPA project, and graduated classes for many years before it was converted to a Junior HS and moved to the "new" building in Lido Beach (on the site of an old Nike missile base). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rchrd (talkcontribs) 19:07, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a brief history section detailing this, but I've left the infobox as 1971. The section needs work to improve its quality (and cite concrete sources). I've left out details that I weren't confidant were accurate (particularly the parts about the WPA and the Nike missle base—I'm under the impression that the latter was somewhere else). Gordon P.
