Recent move

The article was recently moved to London International Airport (Ontario) and I moved it back. I don't see this as necessary as I can't recall London Heathrow Airport ever being known as London International. When I grew up in the UK it was know mainly as London Airport or (later) as Heathrow, see History of London Heathrow Airport (1946-1966). In truth I have never been able to understand why London Airport is a disambiguation and not a redirect to Heathrow. Fix signature. Reason for Move

Yes you are right as London Heathrow was not officially known as London International Airport. However this change was still made as Heathrow is the largest and most well known "London" airport globally, and more people would be more interested in finding out information of the main international airport of London England than a different smaller airport. For example, searching up Paris International Airport will direct the reader right to Charles de Gaulle Airport. More importantly, the real "London International Airport" does not seem to be as true to its name as the airport serves only a few international destinations with none of them being intercontinental. Also, London Ontario is not really globally well known than compared to Toronto, London (UK) and other well known cities. Therefore, I think the default search result for London International Airport should point either Heathrow itself or the London Airport disambiguation page as more people would expect to see one of these two pages, instead of the small city airport in Ontario that is actually referred to by this name. However, we will keep the name of this article as it is, since there is at least a link to the London Airport disambiguation page. (RehmanK786 (talk) 02:48, 25 June 2015 (UTC))

Please note that "international" and "intercontinental" aren't the same thing in any way. "International" usually just means it has a customs facility on site to inspect flights from other countries. The hatnote should be sufficient in any case, though perhaps a direct link to London Heathrow might be helpful. - BilCat (talk) 03:55, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Just to support CambridgeBayWeather I have never heard of any of the London Airports refered to as London International in the UK. Heathrow was known as London Airport until Gatwick came into use so they became London Heathrow and London Gatwick. None of these or the other London Airports have used the term International and a reader with a knowledge of the UK would be confused by the use of the term, and they would be even more confused if you link it to Heathrow as it has never been the only "International" type airport that served London. I also support the move to London International Airport (Ontario) as I live in Canada and if anyone ever asked me where the London International Airport was on earth, instantly, I would think UK not Canada. Even though it is called London Heathrow Airport.19:45, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Heathrow is indeed not the only international airport in the UK, but it is the largest and busiest of the three main airports in London UK. But more importantly regardless, I don't support the idea that "London International Airport" should primarily refer to this small airport, especially since this airport is not located anywhere in London, England. I think this term should at least direct readers to the London Airport disambiguation page as people whom look up this term (especially for people outside the UK) will want to know more about the main airport(s) serving London England than a tiny airport completely out of the scope. Like what the user above said, this is already confusing a lot of readers since they don't really know much about this airport, as well about this small town in Ontario that was really just named after the UK's capital and largest city. Please read WP:PRECISE: 'Usually, titles should be precise enough to unambiguously define the topical scope of the article, but no more precise than that.' London International Airport is sufficient for the article. If anyone is looking for airports in London, UK, the hatnote would be sufficient for them to look at the correct article. I definitely do not agree that the title for this article is precise enough, especially when the worldwide general public refers to the main airport in London UK as "London International Airport." Interested to know if you have a source for "the worldwide general public" uses the term London International Airport for Heathrow, as it isnt a term I have heard used at all. London does have other international airports besides Heathrow and Gatwick. There's London Luton, favourite of the package holiday operators; London City Airport, sqeezed in between two docks; and the newest baby London Stansted Airport. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:11, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
