Page origin[edit]

This list was growing on the waterpark article, but was blanked without reason by

on 11 August 2006. In any event, I copy-pasted it here so we can work on it in an organized fashion. I go to a different waterpark every 4th of July. The following list shows the one's I've been to, starting with the first one in 2001:

Some of the parks on here are just pools with slides on them, that is not really a water park for example Arkadelphia Aquatic Park, maybe this should be a more definitive list with real water parks
Name Location Rides Acres Bar Lazy River Speed Slide
Deep Rivers Hobart, Indiana 10 N N
Mountain Creek Waterpark Vernon, New Jersey 10 Y N
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Valencia, California 22 65ft
Wet ‘n Wild Las Vegas, Nevada
White Water Atlanta, Georgia 40 40 45ft
Noah’s Ark Dells, Wisconsin 60 70 55ft
Schlitterbahn New Braunfels, Texas 60 70 55ft

I'll try to add tables to the List of waterparks and to organize it, a little bit at a time. Feel free to chip in. --Sadi Carnot 16:27, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Violating Wiki Rules[edit]

Regarding the List of Waterparks on Wikipedia:

The Wikipedia organization does not like lists with external links, claiming that Wikipedia is not an internet directory. OK, fine. But a list of all waterparks (and the list of amusement parks, and the list of summer camps) can actually serve a greater purpose. When we see what Wiki articles are missing, we might be tempted to create a Wiki article for that location on Google Earth. Please note that, contrary to popular opinion, the earth does not belong to Google. The point is that the items on these lists are all locations on the planet, and are all businesses. Those that have a Wiki article appear as an icon on Google Earth/Maps, and those that do not have an article on Wikipedia do not have an icon on the map.

Now, these listings of businesses creates a problem for Wiki-Freaks, who absolutely hate business related articles on Wikipedia. They delete them as fast as you can write them. This issue has to be resolved by the owner of this organization. My suggestion is rather simple and sweet. Create a new Wiki organization for places on the planet, and then move all of these articles out of Wikipedia and over to WikiEarth. Am I a genius or what? Now we can surf the Earth and look for interesting Wiki articles for resorts, beaches (nude or otherwise), volcanoes, poluting power plants and everything else on the planet. Wikipedia can then return to being a free and open version of the popular 20th century Encyclopedia Britannica publication.

If you do not like this idea, then suggest a better one, because I am fed up with the small-minded control-freaks who are doing more harm than good to this organization. Summer Vacation (talk) 14:04, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What you say is true. However, all material in wikipedia must be verified, which means that the entries that are currently lacking references (or links to articles on the water parks) much be deleted. Stuartyeates (talk) 18:35, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Google map?[edit]

Do you know if there's a google map for this? I'm a visual person so that would help.

If not, I can throw it up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.168.151.168 (talk) 14:53, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New Layout[edit]

Name Location
Example Example City

— Preceding unsigned comment added by AmericanAir88 (talkcontribs) 18:13, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note: I feel that this specific table layout is outdated, in part because it places all of the entries in bold typeface, which makes the page glaring. Also, this is a very long list, and it is unlikely that anyone is going to reformat all of the entries into this table format, per the time and energy it would take to do so. North America1000 05:08, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Northamerica1000: My apologies. I have no idea why I had this table idea in mind. I am reverting all tables. AmericanAir88 (talk) 18:26, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I am also creating a new page on specifically North American water parks. AmericanAir88 (talk) 18:28, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@AmericanAir88: Hey, it's all good. It's also easier to edit the page without the tables, imo. Thanks. North America1000 00:09, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Northamerica1000: Yeah it is. What are your thoughts on the divided list? AmericanAir88 (talk) 00:27, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Seven Peaks Water Park[edit]

I wanted to say that the photo beside the Utah water parks for the seven peaks water park was a phot of the salt lake Seven Peaks (use to be called Raging Waters) the caption doesn't specify the city. The photo is also old, because the two slides pictured are now purple. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AuCJPorter (talkcontribs) 04:18, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

New Article?[edit]

@Northamerica1000: Would it be appropriate to have a separate list called List of defunct water parks ? This list should be for only operating water parks. Having a defunct section in this loses the main focus of the list. Before I go create a new page, I want your opinion. Also, thank you for all your edits, I appreciate it very much so. AmericanAir88 (talk) 19:12, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'd strongly prefer to leave the article as is. The defunct section is rather short, and if it were split, I can see it now, deletion nominations based upon WP:OUTOFBUSINESS rationales for the defunct parks, despite notability, or potential notability for non-linked entries in the defunct section. North America1000 02:23, 21 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Northamerica1000: Excellent point. Should we keep the defunct list or delete it? This is a list of water parks, not a list of all water parks that have ever existed. AmericanAir88 (talk) 03:24, 21 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My stance is for the entries to be researched for potential notability first, and if notable, then add red links. Per source searching, those that do not meet WP:GNG can be removed. I feel that this is superior compared to simply removing people's work en masse. Also, there are some blue links in the defunct section that should stay in the list, in part as per WP:NTEMP. The work continues[edit]

@Northamerica1000:,

I still work on this article today. I look back and see the huge difference you have made. Its a pleasure to work with you. I have recently created List of water parks in Asia to help thin out the list. The goal is to make these lists as fluent as the amusement park lists. Thank you again. AmericanAir88(talk) 21:23, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Northamerica1000: The progress continues with the creation of List of water parks in Europe. Here is a plan for this article.

Phase 1[edit]

  • Independent articles for all continents/regions:
List of water parks in Africa
List of water parks in the Americas
List of water parks in Asia
List of water parks in Europe
List of water parks in Oceania

@Northamerica1000:  Done AmericanAir88(talk) 22:06, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Phase 2[edit]

  • Decision on what to do with the defunct water parks.
  • Act on the decision. Probably will be another article (List of defunct water parks)

Phase 3[edit]

  • This article will turn into a link of lists similar to other lists on wikipedia.
  • A clean, well-maintained, and desirable article will emerge as a gateway to the various water parks around the world.

Thank you. AmericanAir88(talk) 22:31, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

AmericanAir88: I have added links to the articles listed on this article page in their See also sections, etc., linking to this article. North America1000 03:55, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
