Staffs[edit]

I cannot believe that whoever produced this article has missed out an entire county of England, I hope this is oversight and not a purposeful ommission! Where is Staffordshire in the list?? I know that there are towns that are twinned in Staffs, for example Leek is twinned with Este and Stoke-on-Trent is twinned with Erlangen....

No one person produces an article - it's up to you, as much as anyone, to add information. The omission of a complete county is a bit of a gaff, oh dear! Cornwall[edit]

I've added a lot of twins and links. If anyone knows more please add them! If any of the twins are wrong, please change them. Translation of articles are needed in English WP for the twin towns in other language WPs. Articles need to note that each town has a twin and any relevant details of the twinning process.

Ceremonial counties?[edit]

Are Tyne-and-Wear, Bristol, West Yorks & West Midlands ceremonial counties? Also, we have East Riding as well as North, South & West Yorks. Guidance or consensus needed. Folks at 137 21:05, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Coats of Arms and Flags?[edit]

Is there any need for the enourmous amount of flags and french coats of arms? It's making the article extrremly big and very hard to load. Any thoughts? --DWR ^talk 17:03, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I only thought it would make it more informative, as there are many places which share names with other places, and the CoA's would therefore distinguish one in one region to another of the same name in a different region. Although I accept it makes it informative, the page is 93 kilobytes long, which seems totally insane, as its not that long an article, and from the top of the page, "some browsers may have problems editing pages approaching or longer than 32kb." --DWR ^talk 11:16, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed all the French CoA's, but have left national and state flags (for USA, Canada and Australia) for the time-being. If necessary, state flags could go, but I think national ones should stay as many of the entries had them before I started my mass-editing of this article. Craitman H. I propose to remove all flags from this article as it seems to me they serve no purpose other than decoration and therefore breach WP:MOSICON. Any objections? --John (talk) 11:45, 31 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, the national flags should stay, but the states/territory/county/region flags should be removed. Also, more links can be added to the states/territory/county/region names. Thfc (talk) 23:31, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Manchester/Amsterdam[edit]

I can find no verification that Manchester is, or ever has been, twinned with Amsterdam. Certainly, here is no mention of this on Manchester City Council's website, where the other twin towns are detailed. The only reference appears to be on the Local Government Association's website, and sites derived from it, and is probably an error. York[edit]

Similarly, the York/Fanteakwa District in Ghana link is not included on the City of York website. There is a link, but it's a less official one, promoted by YOWLA, the York chapter of the One World Linking Association (UKOWLA). Anyway, I've removed it from this list but included a reference to it at York#Twin_cities. --GuillaumeTell 17:44, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Missing twins[edit]

I know it's a bit much to expect comprehensiveness, but I happened to notice that the page on Dunfermline (to pick a random example) mentions six twins - Logroño, Sarasota, Trondheim, Wilhelmshaven, Vichy and Albufeira - while only Wilhelmshaven is given here. I presume this is mirrored by entries on other towns and cities. My point is just that Wikipedia itself has the information missing here in other entries, and it shouldn't be too difficult to make som improvements without straying from the site ... References and External links[edit]

Three things:

First off, none of the information here is cited... The credibility of some of this is questionable.
Secondly, of the 4 references used here, #1 simply corroborates that Herstmonceux, Sussex is twinned with Varengeville-sur-Mer, Normandy; #2 and 3 both simply corroborate that Cambridge, UK is twinned with Cambridge, Massachusetts; and reference 4 is a broken link. Aside from clicking on the individual towns, finding the "twinned cities" section (which often doesn't exist) and searching to see the references from that section (those references rarely exist), there is no way to verify the information.
Lastly, none of the four external links are working.

Three of the sections are links to other articles[edit]

Three of this article's sections, namely the lists for England, Scotland, and Wales, only contain links to other articles, which contain the list for each country. Should Northern Ireland have its own article of twin towns, and if so, should this article then contain no information of its own?--MtPenguinMonster (talk) 12:33, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
