Incomplete[edit]

This list will always be mostly incomplete, since we haven't actually mapped all of the seamounts in the world and are unlikely to do so any time soon (probably decades). However, having a list of notable and/or explored seamounts is useful. It should not be presented as an exhaustive list, but rather a place for gathering what information does exist on a topic that will likely expand greatly in the next few years. Proposed merge[edit]

It makes sense to merge List of seamounts by summit depth, which duplicates much of the information in List of submarine volcanoes. My only question is about terminology: are all seamounts volcanoes? Can someone explain the distinction between the geological terms seamount, guyot, and submarine volcano? Goustien (talk) 16:07, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
