Renamed vs. Exonyms[edit]

Someone has misunderstood something when it comes to this article. There are very few "renamed" towns and places in Latvia. Most of the names on the list reflects the previous use of German and Russian exonyms for the Latvian towns and places. The use of exonyms reflects the political situation of the time, there was and still is a parallel use of exonyms in different languages. Philaweb T-C 19:56, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Note that there allready are two articles on German exonyms - List of German exonyms for places in Latvia and List of German names for Latvian places. I see no sense to have this without proper explenation why these cities were renamed and nearly all cities in Latvia have had some different name ---- Xil...sist! 06:50, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
