Lee Harvey Oswald in the Bronx[edit]

How long did Lee Oswald, assassin of President Kennedy, live in the Bronx? How did his life in the center of American marxism (lower case intended) affect his conversion to marxism? He said he had to "hunt for books" about marxism in Texas, but books on marxism abound in every library in the Bronx - they devote entire sections to it. More information on his life in the Bronx would not be politically correct, but very interesting.

Ray Vega jazz musician[edit]

Ray Vega points to a porn producer from Brooklyn, not a Jazz musician from the Bronx. Perhaps there's two people by the same name? -- RoySmith (talk) 17:01, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Former" or not?[edit]

Some names have "former" in front of their role, such as Eliot Spitzer, now former governor of NY. Others don't, such as Theodore Roosevelt, the quite former President of the US? Is there a WP policy or principle on this? Bellagio99 (talk) 13:18, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion of Groups[edit]

An IP User, who has no Discussion box (that I can contact directly) has repeatedly removed the names og small singing groups from this list.

I think s/he is wrong on two counts.

  • The "Chiffons" etc are WP:Notable as a group. To list separately as individuals would go against Notability, confuse people, and take up space.
  • The use of group names, such as the Chiffons, has been in this article for many years, and has never been objected to before. It has been accepted by many editors. Why change now? Does harm, and no good.

Bellagio99 (talk) 17:06, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

1. "has repeatedly removed the names" – i believe i removed once and undid your revert once. not exactly "repeatedly".

2. it is rarely clear (and encyclopedic) to mix apples and oranges. the title of the article is "list of people from the bronx" and not "list of people (and musical groups) from the bronx". notable group or not, a group doesn't belong on a list of people. a group belongs on a "list of groups from the bronx" (if truly enough to justify such a standalone list or "list of musical groups from new york city" (with borough subections, if needed and/or desired). should there be a desire to list – on this "list of people from the bronx" – a member of a bronx-based group and the individual member doesn't have standalone article, it is very simple – list as "mary smith, member of xyz group".

3. longevity on a list without objection doesn't make it etched in stone.

4. fyi, even IPs have talk pages (e.g., for example mine is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:96.232.126.111, easily accessible by clicking the "talk" link on any of my edit summaries (now 3,000+ under this IP number alone; my dynamic IP number changes at random with this one amazingly now lasting some time).

Apparently he went to school here Riverdale Country School in the Bronx for a time during the 1920s. JFK in the Bronx...Modernist (talk) 00:33, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Multi-facetted Artist To Add[edit]

  • Mwalim is a playwright, actor, director, novelist, composer, singer, arranger and record producer who was born in the Bronx and grew up in Co-op City. A winner of numerous awards, grants and fellowships for his work, including productions of his plays off-Broadway and in the Bronx warrants his being included on the page under the three categories.

    • Many on this list are multifaceted, but are only listed once. Please pick one most notable category, mention the other 2, but delete the separate entry. Bellagio99 (talk) 21:56, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting this article into occupational lists from the Bronx?[edit]

The List of people the Bronx article is a rather large article. Thankfully, it is not an simple alphabetical list, but instead sub-divided (primarily) by occupation. Would it be appropriate to split this article into articles such as:

  • List of politicians from the Bronx
  • List of athletes from the Bronx
  • List of scientists and physicians from the Bronx
  • List of business people from the Bronx
  • List of writers and journalists from the Bronx
  • List of musicians from the Bronx
  • List of actors and actresses from the Bronx
  • List of entertainers from the Bronx
  • List of performers from the Bronx

- HugoHelp (talk) 22:35, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see the point, altho the Bronx has been prolific. Sometimes, I don't know where to put people, and having the combined list helps. I've been an active contributor to this list, and I do not find it onerous.Bellagio99 (talk) 01:21, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Attorneys[edit]

This small section is pathetic. I just added something on Pat Cippolene, Trump's lawyer, but the other 3 entries have no annotation. Super-meagre. Shouldn't this section be dismembered?Bellagio99 (talk) 23:36, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
