"In the history of the FA Cup, only eight teams who were playing outside of the top level of English football have gone on to win the competition. All eight were in the (pre-1992) Second Division"[edit]

What about Spurs, who won it in 1901 while playing in the Southern League..........? -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 10:47, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks; I think the same list can be pushed back to Spurs in 1901, so have made a few changes and moved it. -- Testing times (talk) 19:40, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Southampton in 1902[edit]

Southampton reached the FA Cup final in 1902 while playing in the Southern League, this is not currently mentioned........... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 22:21, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK, my mistake again. I am pretty sure that the claim from 1945 is safe, so will go back to that, and leave it to someone else to push the history back further.
I should mention that there is some relevant discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football - in particular, that League teams first qualified by right in 1926, and the rounds changed that year, so would have to refer to "Last 16" before then. Oldelpaso suggested starting in 1926; Eldumpo suggested starting in 1920, the first year there was a 3rd division of the Football League. -- Testing times (talk) 18:08, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Day of the week[edit]

Is the day of the week really required in this table? Just seems to be excess clutter to me. Delusion23 (talk) 18:40, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
