This article was nominated for deletion on 14 April 2016. The result of the discussion was keep.

Please provide links to other articles for the table headers, especially the acronyms. i.e. what is POP and SLA. These are acronyms for many different things.
- Added links to some of the acronyms. "Directional DNS" seems to refer to geographical DNS and PoP/POP seems to refer to Point of presence. I'm not sure about these two though, so I didn't add link. 113.36.114.26 (talk) 02:24, 30 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Geographical DNS redirects to BIND, which tells us nothing of the meaning in this context. In my mind geoDNS would refer to the capability of handing responses based on users IP/Location. If so then then I know for a fact that providers like Cloudflare and Google Cloud DNS do not provide this capability. List selection criteria: items don't need a Wikipedia article[edit]

I'm actively working on researching managed DNS providers for work right now, and am disappointed to find someone's been removing items from this list just because they don't have a Wikipedia article. Unless that's become a requirement of lists since I was last an active editor, I'll be adding things to this list over the next few weeks that don't have articles. Rather than deleting them, it would be far more productive to create articles for notable providers. (For example: NS1 being removed from this list repeatedly instead of creating an article is not beneficial to anyone and runs counter to the mission of Wikipedia.) I agree. Too many people delete items on this list with a comment like "Rm entry without article". I'm guessing that's from a misunderstanding of the Wikipedia Notability guidelines ( WP:LISTN and WP:LISTCRITERIA ). That guideline *mentions* that *some* "large lists" may be limited to only listing items that already have their own Wikipedia article (perhaps the basis of this misunderstanding). This article currently lists 15 providers, which is *far* from being a "large list" on Wikipedia. That guideline says that other lists (such as this one) do *not* require items to have their own Wikipedia article. In fact, those guidelines point out that it is common for a stand-alone list article to have "Every entry in the list fails the notability criteria." Please don't delete items from this list (or other list articles) merely because they don't already have a Wikipedia article. Thank you. --DavidCary (talk) 03:39, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
