Suggestion to change list levels?[edit]

There are some libraries which don't fit the heading of "Local libraries", not sure if they should be in separate heading by state.

For example, in ACT:

Many branches of government or departmental libraries are based in Canberra, including: ACT Health Library (ACT Government); AFP Library (Australian Federal Police); Australian National Botanic Gardens Library and Gardens' Archive; N H (Doc) Fisher Geoscience Library;

Other libraries include: Basser Library of the Australian Academy of Science; National Centre for Australian Children's Literature

My apologies if the solution is very obvious, looking forward to discuss and improve for a more fulsome list and potentially making some new pages for Australian libraries! -- SunnyBoi (talk) 04:45, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at the table of contents, I would be inclined to make some changes to the headings and their order. Technically, Local Libraries should be renamed Public Libraries, Other Specialist Libraries should be renamed Special Libraries and Legislative Libraries moved to a sub-heading under Special Libraries, and then arranged by state/territory. All of the libraries you have mentioned are considered to be special libraries by librarians, even if they are open to the public. You could then add sub-headings for science libraries, medical libraries, arts libraries, law libraries, and music libraries (by you, I mean anyone who is interested in doing so - it may even be me). In due course, I would add a section for Independent Libraries with Mechanics Institutes and Schools of Art as sub-headings. I say in due course as I have just sublitted my doctoral thesis on independent libraries and will be writing some articles here on independent libraries once my thesis is available online. Cheers! New South Wales section[edit]

Not what wikipedia is about - please note that adding street addresses, external links in the manner that it is done - is WP:NOTGUIDE - only those libraries that have wikipedia articles should actually be listed - otherwise the list is not wikipedia but something else JarrahTree 06:49, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
