Notability[edit]

As it has been discussed HERE (AFD proposal for this article) and also per WP:SOAP and WP:LINKS, this article will only contain NOTABLE fast food chains that can be verified THROUGH MULTIPLE SOURCES (rather than just the company link) as per WP:N. Please help excluding the links of Non notable fast food chains and mentioning "as per talk" on the comment section. -- Loukinho (talk) 21:40, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I'd like to inform that if a link is red is very likely to be non-notable and I'll be deleting those too. -- Loukinho (talk) 05:47, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jack in the Box is international?[edit]

According to Jack in the Box's website [1], they are located only in the United States, in just 18 states. In fact, Jack in the Box can hardly be considered a national chain, given that nearly half (43%) are located in California, and the vast majority (88%) are located in just five states (California, Texas, Arizona, Washington, and Nevada). Furthermore, there isn't a single Jack in the Box location in the highly populated states of New York, Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Georgia, New Jersey, Virginia, or Massachusettes, and barely any in Illinois.

Casa Bonita[edit]

Can a restaurant truly be considered defunct if it's years of operation are 1925-present? If one believes that, then it is currently in operation and therefore not defunct. Darquis (talk) 00:00, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What Qualifies as Fast Food?[edit]

In the United States section, I noticed that there were quite a few entries that don't seem like fast food, at all. California Pizza Kitchen is not fast food, nor is Fuddruckers or Ruby Tuesdays. Could we please clean this up a bit? Fast food, to me, involves counter service, at the least.

What are the qualifications being used here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.216.106.169 (talk) 18:02, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • This is quite an important question, unless one is saying that some on the list like Fuddruckers are fast casual but then at the top it says this is not a list for fast casual restaurants. Others like Ruby Tuesdays which are casual restaurants with full service, the only way that I could think of them being fast food is for take out and that idea seems quite odd. This question has been up there for four years and has not been addressed. It's strange?! Freddiem (talk) 02:54, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No Such Thing As 'Porn Burger'[edit]

Has anyone ever heard of this? I can't find relevant information to verify. Careiter 17:33, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Sonic Drive-In not international[edit]

FYI- For some reason, Sonic Drive-In keeps getting added back to the International section by anonymous IPs. It only has locations in the US, so I've reverted the erroneous additions. Hope the IPs will get the message soon. --Funandtrvl (talk) 00:12, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In-N-Out Burger also not international[edit]

These guys only have 28 locations in the western US, they're not even fully US national yet, let alone international — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.192.84.14 (talk) 13:19, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Adding non-existent articles to this list[edit]

I have been trying to clean up this list article for a few days. I don't think that non-existent, or non-linked entries should be listed in the article, because of WP:WTAF and WP:NOT. There is someone who keeps reverting my fixes without any explanation. --Funandtrvl (talk) 21:52, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I wholly agree. In fact, there is a page notice to that effect when you edit the page. Delete away and request to protect the page from IP editors. --Jeremy (blah blahI did it!) 04:42, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How to improve the list of fast food restaurants from the U.S.A.[edit]

Yesterday, February 26, I tried to ask a question about where Kentucky Fried Chicken and McDonalds were - my comment did not get saved, which is just as well as I see that they are in the list under the fast food chains from North America. However, would it not make sense if KFC were replaced with the full title for this outlet - Kentucky Fried Chicken? ACEOREVIVED (talk) 14:54, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Skippers[edit]

There are over 30 Skippers restaurant locations in 5 states and hundreds of locations featuring Skippers brand products, that is not on this listing. http://skippers.com/details-and-info/about-us/ 2606:A000:1503:C11B:4909:368A:2C1C:8589 (talk) 23:26, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Krystal Restaurants not on the List[edit]

There is a large chain of restaurants based in Chattanooga, Tennessee called Krystal. This chain has been in business since the Great Depression era (1934 to be precise) and is comprised of 360 locations. The company even has a Wikipedia page dedicated to it and its history, as linked here for your viewing pleasure: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krystal_(restaurant) If you have any further questions before adding to the list, or need further proof of this chain's existence, just ask. Distortion: US bias[edit]

Which is the purpose of the "List of fast food restaurant chains#Major international chains" subsection? There are plenty of US companies in there that barely can claim serving the whole US territory, let alone have an international presence, yet they are included in a "Major international chains" section. This should be addressed moving those companies to the regional/country sections, and then we should ask if we can deal with the inherent problems such section entails and thus whether we should start the section from scratch or not.--Asqueladd (talk) 04:08, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Generally people tend to not put that much thought into where they put things in lists, or even what they include or not. That said, I agree the international chain section is slanted toward American companies. There's plenty of international chains in the list that aren't headquartered in America and also aren't in the international chain section. For instance Nando's. Which operates in more then 35 countries. Although, it could just as easily have been placed in the "Africa" section because that's where it is from and not any kind of bias on the side of editors. I do a lot of work related to retail companies for a couple of projects in my spare time, and it seems like American's (and maybe people from a few Europeans countries) are mainly concerned with the "internationality" of companies. Whereas, people from other places don't necessarily factor it in as much and take a more national perspective to their editing and how they view brands.
Personally, I think the best thing to do would be to get rid of the section and go by where the company is headquartered or originates from. IMO it's not worth listing every single restaurant in a specific "international" section that might a few restaurants in random countries other then where it mainly does business. Those things fluctuate a lot anyway. Maybe a better way to do it would be to have a completely separate list just for international restaurant chains and just include each company in both lists. Here by country of origin and in the other list by some other metric. If nothing else, the word "major" is problematic on it's own anyway. --Adamant1 (talk) 04:37, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I tend to agree. While these sorts of lists are always dynamic and by their nature incomplete, so any section (including the ones for each country) will naturally not include everything it possibly could, I think a simple listing by country of founding would be better. I doubt anyone comes to this list to find the link to McDonalds and even if they did, they would more than likely know to look for it under companies from the USA. Whataburger[edit]

There is no Whataburger. 73.255.47.127 (talk) 03:01, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Was initially confused by this, but now I have to agree. It is a travesty that Whataburger is not listed. Bkofford (talk) 03:07, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh. There is. It's in the correct section of US. Whataburger is not international. Bkofford (talk) 03:08, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is. It's in the United States section, which is accurate because there are no Whataburger locations outside the US. Bkofford (talk) 17:14, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure why I couldn't see my previous replies. Oops. Bkofford (talk) 17:15, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edo Japan (Canadian Chain) links to the Edo Period[edit]

As stated in the title, the link for Edo Japan under the Canada section links to "Edo_Japan" which redirects to Edo_period (Edo period). This should actually link to Edo_Japan_(restaurant) (Edo Japan (restaurant)). 207.38.54.47 (talk) 23:28, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
