Cleanup[edit]

The word "utensil" is a synonym for "tool". It is a man-made device. Hands and fingers are not utensils. Tortillas are not utensils. A balti is a pot, not a utensil. A runcible spoon is fictional, and a nonsense word. Finally, I've removed the dictionary definitons because lists do not need them. That's why the links are there. Pushers?[edit]

I wonder if there is a name or article for an eating utensil used for pushing food onto a fork? While one may ordinarily use a knife for this purpose, my grandmother had a hoe-shaped device that was part of a place setting for children in Holland. I don't know what the Dutch name for it was, or whether it may have been used only there or in broader use. Шизомби (talk) 16:26, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Be that as it may, it is useful to note that not all cultures use utensils. Not sure bread counts as a tool, but I added a note for completeness. -- Beland (talk) 02:24, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion proposal: What is the point of this page?[edit]

I don't see the point of this page at all. Spoons[edit]

Moved spoons out from under "Western Cutlery." Spoons are clearly used by cultures outside of the west, notably in Asia.

Bowls?[edit]

Surely a bowl is an eating utensil since you can ingest the soup directly from the bowl without the requirement of a spoon (in fact if you think about it a spoon is just a small bowl with a handle). Chieftain Tartarus (talk) 17:42, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
