Problems with NYS DOT inventory[edit]

This page depends heavily on the NYS DOT inventory cited at the end. I am currently reviewing Columbia County Routes for OpenStreetMap and there are a number of problems with the resulting Wikipedia page. specifically, there is confusion of some unsigned county highways (the ones in the 60s-80s mostly) and the signed county routes. for example, 82 (a short section of Rock City Road) is an unsigned county highway, not a signed county route. as this is based on personal observation, i am uncertain how to proceed within wikipedia guidelines. will it be sufficient to document my findings in OpenStreetMap and then cite OpenStreetMap?
