Page format[edit]

Any reason this isn't in a standard Wiki Tables format? Such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_earthquakes. The reason I ask is that it would make it interoperable as there are multiple tools available to export/re-use Wiki Table formats such as the one here -> https://wikitable2csv.ggor.de — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.205.149.33 (talk) 16:55, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Some mascots of free software are actually non-free[edit]

Trademarked, copyrighted, understandable -- a cruel world needs some protection. But to the point of limiting free use on free media? (Beastie, Mozilla, Hexley, etc.) Doesn't feel right for something associated with free culture movement. Free software news are usually boring to read through. A mascot relates better to the public, why not be a little more permissive and just let them fly? If not, why even bother to put up a mascot in the first place? Example? LOOK AT GLENDA, JUST LOOK AT HER!!! Archie Stokes 06:02, 25 July 2017 (UTC)

How about these?[edit]

Clarus the Dogcow - official mascot of Apple Developer Support (and documented as such in a Tech Note.)

Rover the Dog - Official mascot of Microsoft BOB, and reappears in Search/Find in XP. Also, Rover is one of the characters that can be used to replace the Clippit character in Office Assistant.

Microsoft BOB - unofficial mascot of "never hire your girlfriend/wife".

Clippit (aka Clippy, aka Microsoft Paperclip) -official mascot of "Microsoft Office Assistant". The Clippit character is replaceable in operation with several other characters. Clippit is irreplacable as the most hated computing mascot of all time (I'm sure we can find multiple sources attesting to that).

Mario - mascot of Nintendo (Not mentioned is his bio page https://www.nintendo.co.jp/character/mario/characters/index.html )

Sonic - mascot of Sega Replacing the previous mascot: Alex Kidd according to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_the_Hedgehog

Rainbow Apple - Apple. Can a fruit be a mascot? Antifesto (talk) 03:09, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Correction to the above - Apple's mascot is the happy mac. 26zhangi (talk) 15:46, 8 December 2020 (UTC) SerenityOS has a ladybug, Can it be called a mascot? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SerenityOS#/media/File:Serenityos-ladybug.png[reply]

100Rabbits have made various tools, and for all these tools they have mascots. https://100r.co/site/home.html Like Orbit is the mascot for Orca Esoteric programming language. https://100r.co/site/orca.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by Priyalk (talkcontribs) 14:04, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah Clippy is notable for sure. 93.136.68.82 (talk) 22:33, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also, add the python mascots, pai chan and son kun. 26zhangi (talk) 14:19, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Gentoo mascots are notable enough to be mentioned in the Gentoo article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gentoo_Linux#Logo_and_mascots. Official logos (https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Artwork/Artwork) are licensed under CC-BY-SA/2.5. Is it compatible with Wikipedia?194.230.155.218 (talk) 16:26, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

featuring the c# mascot would be a great addition. 82.20.132.44 (talk) 23:04, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Xenia[edit]

It looks like someone just added their furry OC as the linux mascot. And to top it off it's the article's thumbnail when embedded. It's kind of cringe. 2607:F598:B40A:1B0:F1CE:68B2:ACFE:B5F8 (talk) 21:42, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately for you, whether something is "cringe" is not a criterion for inclusion. ― novov (t c) 01:10, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
