Explanation of catalog and numbering?[edit]

It would be useful to have:

a brief history of the origin of the JW catalog
an explanation of the numbering system

If Janáček did not use opus numbers, or they aren't really useful, a bit explaining that would also be good. (For example, in Franz Schubert's works, the opus numbers have no relationship to when the works were written, and only a modest number of works have them, so the sequence is practically useless.)
