Separated from main article[edit]

I moved all this information out of the main article on Meryl Streep since it occupied such a large area and felt it would be better as a separate article page (Wikipedia does support list pages - correct me if I am wrong) for this interested. --Ozgod 02:36, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed these two lists befit merging! (Ekabhishek (talk) 07:44, 23 September 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Done. -- Ladida (talk) 22:57, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is the totaling of awards correct?[edit]

The totaling of her awards and nominations on the right side section at the top claims 97 wins and 215 nominations. The above enumerated wins and nominations obviously don't sum to that, but they may include awards and nominations not listed. I can't tell which. 66.190.93.7 (talk) 00:49, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Evil Angels???[edit]

I'm changing this to Cry in the Dark given the fact that it is the title that she was nominated for-not Evil Angels. (I was trying to figure out what this film was until I clicked on it) Wgolf (talk) 17:20, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wgolf. The US/International title is A Cry in the Dark, and if that's what is going to be written at the Oscars section, then I think it should be written elsewhere on the page, such as the Golden Globe and Cannes sections. Your edit has also now made the note kind of redundant, so that might need to be changed. For the record, I agree with you that it should say A Cry in the Dark, but when I've previously edited the page, it has been changed due to WP:EGG, and then later reverted. Awards descriptions[edit]

1) This article is not about the awards - for readers who want to know their details they can click on the links and go to those aticles. 2) They turn this table into a WP:INDISCRIMINATE collection of info. 3} All of the copy pasting creates a WP:COPYVIO. MarnetteD|Talk 18:31, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I should add that this is a list article and those usually avoid in depth descriptions - again that is what the articles for the individual awards are for. MarnetteD|Talk 18:45, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Could you explain the issue here? Do you mean the few description mentions in the lead? --Gonnym (talk) 18:51, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The lead is fine IMO. I am referring to this expansion of descriptions of each individual award. Apologies for not leaving the link earlier. MarnetteD|Talk 19:17, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note that I've reverted the edits because you removed many citations that someone has added to fix the page up. QueerFilmNerdtalk 19:22, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Also just want to note that the inclusion of the award descriptions are not new to award and nominations lists, do you say we remove the descriptions on all the other pages? Or just this one? QueerFilmNerdtalk 19:51, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not a reason for inclusion here. As I have already stated the descriptions of the awards is not what this list is about. I would be inclined to remove them from other list articles but that is not what this thread is discussing. A larger discussion at the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Lists might be needed. MarnetteD|Talk 20:00, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with QFN's point. Not only are there other lists that are formatted similarly, but many of them have been chosen as featured lists: Wikipedia:Featured_lists#Awards_and_nominations_received_by_actors_and_filmmakers. The question of WP:COPYVIO might be a valid one, but I'm not knowledgeable enough on that topic to address that. --Secundus Zephyrus (talk) 01:31, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree with MarnetteD: this is a list of awards and nominations received by Streep, and as such a link to each award's article in its respective section is more than sufficient. Anything else is repetitive and fails WP:INDISCRIMINATE. Just because other articles include these summary blurbs doesn't mean all others must... or should. —Joeyconnick (talk) 05:08, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Someone edited her awards and nominations total to only reflect the awards in the table at the top, while other actors still have totals reflecting many other awards? EvaSofie (talk) 12:11, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
