Early diplomats[edit]

I have reinstated this section. I know they were not ambassadors, but neither were the envoys extraordinary. However by convention we include all heads of mission in such articles. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:03, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, only in that case we should copy across from Guatemala and Panama all heads of mission up to 1945?
I left out Frederick Chatfield because he was non-resident, not because he was only chargé d'affaires (as in many similar articles, the title says Ambassadors but it's really a list of heads of mission).
There are lots of cases of multiple accreditation, and it seems odd to duplicate detailed information for non-resident heads of mission, as corrections may then be made for one country and not for another; but if there's a convention, of course I defer to it.
