Requested move[edit]

Current title is misleading. It's not just films on this list, I can also see numerous TV miniseries, TV episodes and even a music video. In addition, they aren't by Stephen King, they're merely based on his works. I'm at a loss over what to rename the list as, though. PC78 00:41, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born[edit]

I added this to the list, and restored it after someone deleted it for the reason "not a film". The title of the article is currently "Media based on Stephen King works", and I see from the above discussions that it was retitled such because there were works other than film projects already on the list. Unless someone can come up with an argument discounting comic books as a form of visual entertainment media, I think it belongs on the list. -- Pennyforth 13:43, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nightwish songs[edit]

The band Nightwish has based two of their songs on books by Stephen King, according to their Wikipedia page.

From the page Nightwish:

"The song "7 Days to the Wolves" from Dark Passion Play is loosely based on Stephen King's novel Wolves of the Calla, the fifth book in the Dark Tower series. The song "The Poet and the Pendulum"'s first section is called The White Lands of Empathica, which is also the fourth part of the seventh book in the Dark Tower series."

Should these songs be added to the 'music' section?

Note that Rose Red and Storm of the Century were tele/screenplays actually written by King for television, so they are on his bibliography page; they are not adaptations. Castle Rock and Overlook table placement[edit]

Both Castle Rock and Overlook are currently in the Television adaptations table, but aren’t they technically derivative works? I think they should be moved, but want to get others opinions before I do so. --Rmaloney3 (talk) 01:02, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@2pou: I was about to move Castle Rock, Overlook, and Shudder's Creepshow series when I realized that all of the current Derivative Works are films, whereas these are all TV series. Should we adjust the columns in Derivative Works to be able to work for both TV and Film, or should I rename the existing table to Derivative Film Works, and add a new table for Derivative Television Works? @Rmaloney3: I don't have any strong feelings, but I think I'd lean towards an extra column, maybe titled "Format" or something more generic. @2pou: Thanks. I missed that novel in there. I attempted to make it work with your suggestion of adding a column, but it got a bit too complicated so I ended up splitting Derivative Works into 3 tables; Film, Television, and Novels. It allowed me to have the appropriate columns for each, instead of trying to fit some data in columns that didn't quite belong. Also of note, I moved Shudder's Creepshow to Derivative Works, but I replaced it's row in the Television Adaptations table with their adaptation of "Gray Matter", as other single-episode adaptations were listed in the same way in that table already.
