Remove duplicate name under Governors[edit]

Teresa Stanek Rea[edit]

Where does Teresa Stanek Rea, head of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, belong in this list? There doesn't seem to be spot for a federal official who is not a legislator, judge or Cabinet member. TJRC (talk) 22:44, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've created a new catch-all "Other" section at the end, for notable law & government individuals who do not fit in any of the existing pigeonholes, and added Rea there. TJRC (talk) 16:01, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal for reorganization[edit]

The organization of this article seems a bit haphazard, neither by relative importance of post nor alphabetically. I propose a reorganization with more weight given to relative prominence of positions. Something like this:

Heads of state
U.S. federal officials
- Cabinet officials
- Members of U.S. Senate
- Members of U.S. House of Representatives
- Justices and federal judges
- Ambassadors
- U.S. military
- Other federal officials
U.S. state officials
- Governors
- State legislators
- State justices and judges
- Other state officials
U.S. local government officials
Foreign government officials and military
Others
