Why does this article exist?[edit]

I would assume that nearly every major research university in the United States performs at least some defense-related basic research. Most of the laboratories presently included in this list are Department of Energy or Department of Defense federally funded research and development centers]], which are already included in a list. seems to be a case for an clarification or perhaps a merge, because this is a good format I note these seem to be the very major ones ones established in the 40s, unlike the larger list, and are major almost self-standing organizations. . Both need expansion. Title seems to need improvement also. DGG ( talk ) 04:07, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Apart from anything else, this article title currently claims to cover the entire world. Needs letters 'U.S.' or 'United States' somewhere. Buckshot06 (talk) 05:45, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Article moved to address above suggestion. Racepacket (talk) 19:11, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
