David Telford[edit]

I've noticed that the sub-section on David Telford has become massive, certainly much larger than the entries on this page for any of the other characters, including main cast such as Rush and Young. Would it be appropriate to create a separate page for him (despite the fact that Telford's status is that of a recurring character only)? Proposed merger of small-sized character articles[edit]

Let's be honest. SGU ran for only two seasons, it ended its run several years ago, it wasn't as popular as the two other SG TV shows, and the SG TV franchise is dead for now. We will neither get much more information on the main characters for article expansion, nor will editors come here to expand the character articles. I therefore propose/recommend to merge all SGU main character articles here into this character list except for Nicholas Rush and Matthew Scott (Stargate), because they are the only ones whose articles are fine, big and encyclopedic. The other articles, although fine in content, are so small that they don't really quality as a WP:SPINOUT from this LoC. – sgeureka t•c 14:55, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree. I don't see enough reasons to merge main cast characters into one article, in result making it too massive or deleting most of merged article.
P.S. I have to say that merges that you already made on other articles by making Mythology of Stargate (and i assume that Ori race article will be merget there too) was way too drastic and large amount of information and work was lost, and i hope you don't have plans to merge Stargate (device) article there too!? Why dont you delete Star Trek Klingon page or pages from Star Wars? Deleting 90% of article is NOT merge!!!– Vilnisr T | C 16:37, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This merge proposal is only for the character articles, so let's focus only on those. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sharon Raydor (a main character for more than 6 seasons across two different American prime-time TV shows) shows its a very good idea to discuss the merging of small or poor character articles now rather than wait until a drive-by editor nominates them for deletion. Article size of this LoC is not of much concern right now: This LoC is currently 46 kB in size, which per WP:SIZERULE is still in the "Length alone does not justify division" category, and I expect the proposed merger and a good "David Telford" section trimming won't change the size that much. In the end, the only way to make these character articles eternally safe from merging and deletion is encyclopedic expansion with respect to WP:NOT#PLOT and qualifying for a WP:SPINOUT. Any volunteers? Or could someone present sources that are useful for article expansion? – sgeureka t•c 18:24, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Support merges of characters, as they are only notable within the context of the Stargate Universe and are hence best discussed within the context of that broader topic, the most relevant page being the one proposed: List of Stargate Universe characters.
