Shouldn't restrict to opening

I would like to suggest that this article title be changed to "Saturday Night Live commercial". If I recall correctly, not all of the hilarious mock commercials were in the opening commercial slot. Some, I think, were well into the 90-minute program. The article text can still point out that many or most were in this slot, adding some entertaining confusion for new viewers. Actually, though I don't think the move was bad, I think the word "parody" should be in the title to fully explain what this is. Right now it sounds like a commerical for Saturday Night Live. Maybe "Saturday Night Live commerical parodies" would be better? -R. fiend 16:47, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I sort of like the word parody more than spoof (it somehow sounds more encyclopedic to me) but that would be fine, really. I just think there has to be something in the title to indicate that these aren't real commercials, and they're not for SNL. -R. fiend 19:20, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Parody and Spoof are so entymologically similar, I really have no preference. Still, changing an entry's name is a potentially destructive process...as such, if one more person supports the term "parody" over spoof, I'll make the change myself. ---Jackel 22:57, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Material to be merged

The following material comes from Bathroom Monkey, which was votes on for deletion. Consensus was not reached however only one person said keep, the majority of people said merge and redirect here. Bathroom Monkey is an opening commercial starring Janeane Garofalo on Saturday Night Live that describes, in parodied commercial form, a fictional product called Bathroom Monkey which is in actuality a live monkey taught to clean bathrooms. In the depiction, the monkey is exploited and forced to clean a woman's bathroom until it dies, apparently because of starvation, and is discarded in a trash sack.

Quotes from the commercial:

• "Now my bathroom's monkey clean and monkey fresh."
• "I don't know where monkeys come from. I don't know how they reproduce. I don't know how they eat. But I do know one thing: they were born to clean bathrooms."
• "MONKEY HATE CLEAN" (scrawled by Bathroom Monkey with lipstick)
• "Warning: Orang-Utan will not wear diapers" (cautionary message shown on screen over orang-utan)

I don't see what the big deal is- there are no other topics in Wikipedia that need the title "Bathroom Monkey" so I don't understand why this should be removed at all. The more information the merrier if you ask me. -Karl 16:17, 15 Feb 2006

Seeking name of Ad Spoof to add to list

What was the name of the car featured in a 1970s commercial parody where, in order to show the smooth ride provided by this luxury automobile, a circumcision was performed in the back by a Rabbi? It's a famous parody that showed up in the Best Of special and Dan Ackroyd was in it.

Philadelphia

Unfortunately, the editor who placed this is not registered so I can't contact him/her. Does anyone know this segment? Is there a source which tells us if these were simply toys (cars,trucks,etc...), or Action figures? I don't want to change something of which I know not. SteinAlive 04:35, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Seeking details about another commercial

I seem to remember an ad for "Wasn't Bicentennial Man an Awful Movie?" Cereal (or something to that effect), where a family that's dysfunctional can at least find common ground in agreeing that the Cereal's name is dead on. Absolutely hilarious.

I can't find anything about it on the internet. Was it even an SNL skit?
