Primary opposition[edit]

Is it right to include people who opposed Trump only in the primary as part of the list? The title "List of Republicans who oppose the Donald Trump 2024 presidential campaign" implies that this refers to current and continuing opposition to him winning the general election now that the primary is over. I doubt that's the case for people like Chip Roy or others who endorsed some of the other candidates in the primary. MisterWat3rm3l0n (talk) 10:26, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

George W. Bush[edit]

I had added George W. Bush on the basis that he said in this article [1] he would likely write in a candidate, but I think this is probably better suited to a general election opposition list than a primary one. Maybe better saved for that. Cooltrainer Hugh (talk) 01:15, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bush has hinted at opposition to Trump. He supported Liz Cheney and Brian Kemp after they clashed with Trump. He has joked about writing in his brother or his dog in 2024. He also said he wrote in Condaleeza Rice in 2020. However, he has not explicitly taken an official position nor told people to not support Trump. In fact, he makes a deliberate point to avoid directly publicly criticizing his successors. Is this enough to include him in the list? 2600:1702:4E36:6110:0:0:0:60E (talk) 19:38, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

people who changed their support[edit]

Should we list people who have previously said they opposed Trump's 2024 run, but later went on to endorse him? For example, Noem opposed him in 2022, but later endorsed him in 2024. 2600:1702:4E36:6110:0:0:0:60E (talk) 01:48, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What counts as a Republican?[edit]

I have removed Michael Cohen from the list as he is a registered Democrat which by definition he should oppose the Trump 2024 presidential campaign as he is from the opposition party. There are several others though such as Joe Scarborough who has been a registered independent since 2017 and Christine Todd Whitman who has been a registered Forward Party voter since 2022 who I would question if it's appropriate to include in the article. ~~~~ C. 22468 Talk to me 16:07, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
