Error?[edit]

Fewest points, season is listed as 2. That might be right, but it was in 1934, which is certainly *not* since 1990.

Added Raw Data[edit]

I added some raw data.

Individual records
Team Records by team

Formatting[edit]

I will format the last few (from "Penalties" on forward) later, since I think I'm going blind now.Bill shannon 05:46, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cleveland Browns dates[edit]

There are several records here which make references to the Cleveland Browns prior to their founding which was, IIRC, 1947. Perhaps the Cleveland Rams is the team responsible? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.173.72.193 (talk) 09:34, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1982 NFL Season[edit]

Should the 1982 NFL Season records have astericks added? This season was only 9 games long and made it very easy for teams to set records in certain areas (i.e. fewest points in a season or fewest turnovers). It just seems like the records of some of these teams could be held by more deserving teams that actually played full seasons. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.112.38.34 (talk) 20:40, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The NFL doesn't asterisk records and doesn't account for differences in schedules in its official record book. Neither does it account for changes in the game that put more emphasis on rushing early and passing more recently, rule changes like illegal contact, or changes in parity. The question becomes how closely should this page mirror the NFL Record and Fact Book (the official league source for records).HappyJake (talk) 13:39, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate Records?[edit]

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Longest Winning Streak in a Season (Regular Season) and Most Consecutive Games Without Defeat in a Season (Regular Season) are the same thing and one should be removed. -Zomic13 (talk) 15:49, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just realized that the second record could include ties and not exclusively wins (although currently the same teams hold both records. -Zomic13 (talk) 15:51, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Playoff Records[edit]

If we're using this site to roughly mirror OFFICIAL NFL records, keep in mind that some playoff games had superior performances to regular season games. Particularly in Points scored by one team in a game, Points scored in a shutout win, and points overcome to win. The OFFICIAL records are the Regular Season totals, not the playoff totals.HappyJake (talk) 13:43, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Link to team's season[edit]

I think the links for the team should be a link to the specific team if possible. Like for example:

  • Longest Losing Streak in a Season

That could be changed to

  • Longest Losing Streak in a Season

— Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.168.236.31 (talk) 02:09, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I like this idea, and in fact I think we might want to go one-better. I think that we should link the specific team (when it is a single-season record, like the 2008 Lions listed above), and then also link the season (2008) to the season (ie. 2008 NFL season).

So it will look like this:

  • Longest Losing Streak in a Season, 16

This will actually help in a couple of ways. It will allow more cross-linking to teams (so, for example, if you want to put a comment in the article for the 2008 Lions season about their losing streak, you can click right from here), and it will also allow us to figure out what records were set in what season, and just click right on the thing. Easy copy/paste job. This could really help a lot of the single-season articles that are less-than-full of information. -Bill shannon (talk) 07:06, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Two-Point Conversions[edit]

In the Scoring section, under Two-Point Conversions, I see:

Most Successful Two-Point Conversions, Season, 13

Miami Dolphins, 1994
Minnesota Vikings, 1997

I'm not sure that the single-season record is actually 13. That seems too high — I can't remember a team ever having more that a half-dozen or so two-point conversions since the NFL adopted it.

Buffalo Bill Shannon — can you shed any light on this?

New Record To Post[edit]

Site currently lists outdated data in the following area:

Most First Downs, Passing, Season, 280 New Orleans Saints: 2011

Per NFL.com today 12/30/2013, the new record appears to be 293, Denver Broncos: 2013

I think someone should note that the Patriots have tied the Rams for most consecutive times finishing first, since the Rams won seven straight NFC West division titles from 1973 to 1979 and the Patriots won seven straight AFC East division titles from 2009 to 2015, and I don't think any other teams have ever done that.

A new record was set by Tampa Bay for fewest rushing attempts in a game with 5 .vs New Orleans 11/8/2020 https://www.nfl.com/games/saints-at-buccaneers-2020-reg-9

AFL and NFL Seperation[edit]

[1]Should NFL team records and AFL team records be separated.

No. Stats and records from the AFL were combined and retroactively considered when the leagues merged in 1970. Lizard (talk) 00:06, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Most consecutive games scoring 40+ points, 4[edit]

Since AFL records count, this should include the Los Angeles Chargers who scored 40+ (52, 41, 41, 50) in the final 4 games of the season Nov 11 thru Dec 18. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.20.114.62 (talk) 15:19, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Excess in Games Won section[edit]

In that section, there are records listed for most wins over two consecutive seasons, over three consecutive seasons, over four consecutive seasons, and so on through ten consecutive seasons and it does this for both regular season wins and combined regular season plus playoff wins. It seems, to me, an arbitrary cutoff and we don't do this for the Games Lost section. Would anybody be opposed to me removing those "wins over consecutive seasons" records?
