Simple. This seems too personal and not encyclopedic. --michael180 01:06, Jun 8, 2005 (UTC)

Fixed it a bit awhile ago. --michael180 14:52, August 25, 2005 (UTC)

Fixed several broken Wikipedia links in the article. Juansmith 01:45, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

More pictures[edit]

Its a ride; more pictures needed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.169.178.49 (talk) 14:47, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The park is open 7 days a week, maybe you could go there and get us some! Go ahead, I'll wait here until you come back. --blm07 02:30, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm too lazy to edit the article, but I distinctly remember that the ride I took in Hollywood earlier this year no longer has the Jeep or the Tyrannosaurus (he appears before the splashdown now to roar at the passengers - before, it was similar to the Orlando ride, where he was wrecking pipes and roaring throughout). 75.51.147.40 (talk) 07:57, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know where we can discuss the content of the article so I will do it there :

1/ The ride has changed since it's release, you get LESS water now. You used to get soaked, it's no longer the case.

2/ There is still the dropping car and the T-rex at the end. Either you where one of the first boats of the day, and some stuff wasn't started off yet, or the attractions was undergoing some maintenance that didn't prevent the park to open it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.194.132.70 (talk) 11:45, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Changes made to the ride[edit]

The boats have been altered since the release of Jurassic Park the ride in hollywood studios.

There use to have some kinda pipes at their end, that grabbed water to throw it in the air (see the two huge colums of water on first article pictures). Those things have been removed (see other picture in the article : no more colums of water).

Dilophosaurus have been changed throughout time in the ride. They used to be in the environmental building, then have been moved outside the ride in the tram tour, then taken back in the ride. We might need to have some insight from people working there to figure out how it was changed. But it DID change, for sure.

There are 2 raptors at the end of the ride, right before the drop. I had never seen them before my last visit. But since the place is very dark, it's possible I never saw them because it was too dark. They stand before the final trex, on the right hand side (after the Trex attack from the ceiling).

The "command center" (with universal studios castmembers) features several dinosaurs action figures. they also have incredible hulk standing by their window (very funny). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.194.132.70 (talk) 11:55, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Missing section[edit]

Shouldn't we also describe the queue and Pre-show as well in the ride through section. We have done that for every attraction except this one. trainfan01 —Preceding undated comment added 13:34, 12 May 2010 (UTC).[reply]

I have added a "Queue and Pre-show" title to the "Ride-Through" section and have given space for typing it in. I am not near a Universal Park to describe this, so feel free to type in the description for the queue and pre-show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trainfan01 (talkcontribs) 02:38, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well what's going on. How come has there not been any typing in on the queue and pre show at all? trainfan01 —Preceding undated comment added 02:33, 18 May 2010 (UTC).[reply]

One more?[edit]

From the Hollywood section:

"Additionally, after the final drop, one more Dilophosaurus sprays guests with water just before the raft returns to the station."

Is this even right? It seems kind of a wierd way to have this occur after the main climax of the ride. If no one can come up with any supporting proof about this by June 10 it will be deleted. trainfan01 —Preceding undated comment added 03:37, 4 June 2010 (UTC).[reply]

No proof has been given at all so I have deleted it. trainfan01 —Preceding undated comment added 04:15, 13 June 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

This article features information about three different rides with two different names (Jurassic Park: The Ride and Jurassic Park River Adventure). This article should be split up into appropriate articles with information only relating to that particular installation. The Template:Infobox water ride should be used on all articles.

Information about the ride and its queue should be specific to that installation only. This page should become a disambiguation page and all links should be updated. At the moment the article is very hard to follow. The Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure sections have already been split into Singapore and Dubailand pages. Movieworld (talk) 07:27, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: I have moved the pages and split the information. The only information that was removed was the trivia section available for viewing and/or replacement in the appropriate articles.

Trivia[edit]

  • Most of the designers, architects and engineers who worked on the attraction have been immortalized throughout the ride in the form of their three initials followed by their birth date stenciled in various places (i.e. DVP101257). Most can be found on pipe runs.
  • "Dino" Don Lessem [1], fresh from the Jurassic Park film as its authenticator worked closely with Universal Creative staff to ensure accuracy of the attractions dinosaurs.
  • Exterior scenes shot for the attraction pre-show video were filmed on location at the Los Angeles Arboretum and the Franklin Canyon Reservoir, which is the same location where the opening of The Andy Griffith Show was shot. [citation needed]
  • During the pre-show video when John Hammond is addressing guests, Steven Spielberg makes a quick cameo appearance as he walks through the set behind Hammond, looking upwards.
  • The Jurassic Park Visitors Center that guests see in the pre-show video is the actual set from the motion picture. The exterior set was built on location in Hawaii, while an interior set was constructed on Soundstage 12 at Universal Studios, Hollywood. Filming for the attraction's pre-show video was completed the day after Spielberg wrapped production on the film.
  • Dr. Margaret Engel (who is featured in the ride's pre-show video) is an homage to Neil Engel, the attraction's producer.
  • There are 1.5 million gallons of water used for the ride.
  • The ride culminates in an eighty five foot (twenty five meter) drop at a fifty one degree angle, sending the rafts to speeds in excess of fifty miles per hour (eighty kilometers per hour).
  • A total of sixteen animatronic dinosaurs populate the attraction.
  • The main show building in which the drop is housed, which is known as the Environmental Systems Building, is thirteen stories tall.
  • The Ultrasaur’s height is thirty five feet.
  • The ride's narration is provided by the late Richard Kiley; the very person who provided narration for the Jeep Tour in the Jurassic Park film.
  • A maximum of thirteen 25-passenger rafts, dispatched every thirty five seconds, carry guests through the attraction, making for a total theoretical hourly ride capacity of 2,000 people per hour.
  • The total ride time is six minutes and twenty four seconds.
  • The total flume length is approximately 1,900 feet (580 meters).
  • There are twelve separate show scenes featured on the ride.
  • The attraction covers six acres (2.4 hectares) of land and contains 353 palm trees of eleven species, 300 bamboo plants of six varieties, and 7,441 shrubs, plants, and flowers of seventy six species.
  • The ride is mentioned in the original film. During the scene in which all of the characters are eating lunch, John Hammond mentions a river rafting section of the park and one of the projectors shows a snapshot of the opening scene of the ride with the Ultrasaur. The ride was actually being built while the film was in pre-production.
