Untitled[edit]

I think this page needs a focus, or some organisation - do we do counties alphabetically, or ECB Premier Leagues, or what? What's the fundamental point of this list? And are we planning on getting the clubs' pages up to date afterwards as well? --Neil Pickup 21:02, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Opinion[edit]

I think this is a great idea so that people can be aware of the clubs across the antion. I bet this took a lot of time to find out all these clubs and leagues etc... i'm really interested in how you did it, i'd like to help in anyway i can if possible, just let me know and i'll see if i can. I play for Newtown Cricket Club (second 11) who are in the Shropshire Premier League. Very good!! --Kcricketer198 13:30, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]


I propose to reinclude the "other clubs" - many people put considerable work into including them sometime ago, only to find they have all been stripped out by Johnlp who quotes on his page: (although i don't want to detract from your other commendable work done here)

Likes/Dislikes

a) Likes people who want to make an encyclopedia out of the random jottings of people like me.

b) Dislikes people who wish to control, steer or otherwise make our random jottings conform to their own views or ideas about notability, rather than a generic view that all information is useful.

c) Gets fed up that not enough people are creating content and that too many people are whittling away at the content there is without adding value.

Sorry sir, but that is precisely what you have done. A list including all existent clubs is a directory, and not what WP is (see WP:NOT). Over 99% of clubs are not noteworthy and having a list that includes them simply encourages the creation of articles that do not belong on WP. It was agreed in a discussion at WT:CRIC to pare down the list to include clubs that compete at the highest level of domestic club cricket, and other notable clubs. All others were removed. Bigissue is right. You have to draw a line somewhere. And there remains scope, of course, to add other clubs that can justify claims of notability, and there are already some in this list, most of them notable for historic reasons rather than their current status or deeds. So "important smaller clubs" may qualify for this, if their importance can be verified. Would be good to see fewer redlinks in here, as well. So there's already plenty to do.
