Untitled[edit]

I created this page to have a convenient list of only the California fourteeners. Feel free to comment about whether it needs to exist or not---but it is certainly useful for me in editing the individual fourteener articles. -- Spireguy 04:21, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rename[edit]

The first sentence of the lede states that the title of this article is jargon specific to mountaineering. I think this means that the title fails the Recognizability naming criterion. Can we rename this article List of highest California mountains, and then explain the cutoff in the article (as is currently done)? — hike395 (talk) 06:20, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Check Peak Number[edit]

There is a fourteener not listed. Thunderbolt Peak is 14,003 feet tall. But I have also heard the number twelve so I'm not sure how to correct article. Source for Thunderbolt Peak: https://www.summitpost.org/thunderbolt-peak/150222 104.220.91.194 (talk) 23:25, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This list has a prominence cutoff of 300 feet (91 m). The prominence of Thunderbolt Peak is 203 feet (62 m), so it doesn't belong on this list: it is a subsidiary peak of North Palisade.^[1] — hike395 (talk) 06:16, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
