Moved from main article[edit]

I have moved these subsections from main article as they were just shoved in at an inappropriate place and contain many items that should not be in the article (eg story lines from existing comics series that were never reprinted), but do at the same time contain useful info that should be inserted in appropriate places in main article. Please strike out here when correctly inserted -Waza 06:45, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm Dark88. I was the one that listed those comic books. The original list was pretty helpful to me in buying the comic books but then I started going on Amazon.com to buy Batman comic books and saw that this list really missed a bunch of comic books. This was my first time posting on Wikipedia. I wasn't sure if I did it right. By the way would someone be as kind to help me out a bit. Some of the titles that I listed have been crossed out in this list with the following in parenthesis (Part of ongoing series already listed, never reprinted). Those titles that were crossed out, what ongoing series are they a part of? I feel dumb now for having bought Batman Year Three if it was available in another tradepaperback. I spend like 20-25 bucks for all the comic books in that series because I couldn't find it in tradepaperback form. And I also spend the time as you can tell getting the ISBN numbers for the books. I figured some titles might have been dismissed as nonexistant unless I got the ISBN number. --Dark88 06:50, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dark88. In once sense you did do the right thing posting, if in doubt then always add to an article, just be prepared to be corrected. Often its better to make a change where someting needs it, even if you get it wrong it may promt someone else to come along and correct it where they wouldn't if you hadn't done somethign first. Several of these books should be in the list on the main page, just not under a category Miscellaneous as they really belong in other categories. Feel free to put them back in the main article as long as they are in a logical place.
With regard to your question on these story line contents check the Batman: Knightfall article for contents of KnightQuest storyline and the Batman: Year Three article. The others are storylines than ran across several different Batman comic titles (Batman, Detective Comics, Robin, etc.) - Waza 00:19, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Waza, it has been a while, but I put a lot of these back in their right place. I also created a new reference link that I think is really helpful since it lists just about all the Batman TBPs ever published. There are some missing here and there but I think it's a good way to cross-reference the comic book issues that are collected in the TBPs listed on this wikipedia page for Batman comic books.Dark88 08:56, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Batman isn't the the main character in these comic books but plays an important role:

As there is already a Batman Section on List of Elseworlds publications now linked from this page, I have crossed out those titles. - Waza 00:07, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Novels[edit]

This is a list of some Batman novels.

Merger notice[edit]

I agree with merging Bibliography of Batman titles into List of Batman comics... just haven't had time! Dyslexic agnostic 06:02, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I could agree with it as well. Unfortunately, other projects are right now preventing me from doing so personally.Badbilltucker 19:31, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I actually prefer the Bibliography layout and format so if it were to be merged, the List of Batman comics should be added to the Bibliography of Batman titles accordingly.

I agree a merger is not a bad idea in principle, but will it work and allow us to keep all the info in both articles? Not sure what the last comment is refereing to in terms of format. Both formats look vey similar to me. Unless the comment referers to the breif summaries given in the collections listed under the the Selected titles section of the Biographies article. However the List article is much longer and more comprehensive, and addign such descriptions for each of the titles in the list would make article too large. Even some of these comments need to be taken with a grain of salt - surely the The Dark Knight Archives Volume One is much more noteworthy for the first appearance of the joker than for the first batman/catwoman kiss, even then it is only a reprint. - Waza 04:29, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Clean up needed?[edit]

I'm thinking some cleaning up is needed for this article. Some cross-checking is needed too. I also think somebody went overboard with listing every Batman book ever published. :) --Destron Commander 01:49, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know, I think it'd be good if every Batman book could be punished, after all it would be nice to create an exhaustive list for easy reference. However as you point out, it would need cleaning up. I think it would be a lot better if new articles were created for each of the storylines which tell you what issues they come from, that article could also tell you trivia, storylines etc. All that is needed on here is the title and the year it came out, possibly the ISBNs. Also it would be good to keep differing continuities (ie Legends, main continuity) away from eachother, maybe even giving a seperate list to the Superman/Batman books. Certainly would like to see a cleaner list with just titles and years on them.Tony2Times 13:36, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is that clean up okay for everyone? Took me bloody long enough. (I know not everything is perfect yet.) Tony2Times 16:50, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ISBN[edit]

Finding ISBN is easy through Google. Is it possible to get the ISBN of all the comics listed here? Some of them have it, but some don't. I know that searching for some of them through Amazon gives you the ISBN, but not always. Dark88 08:56, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Batman Trades List[edit]

I'm going to remove the Batman trades external link (the one for batmantrades.com). For some reason, it requires a password to get to. This is not for any reason relating to Wikipedia standards. It can be put back up if the problem (if there is a problem) is removed, or somebody mentions why the registration is required.

And I seriously hope my computer is not the only one that does this. Ccm043 02:26, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More books to add[edit]

Shadow of the Bat and the new Brave and the Bold both seem to fit in well on this page. Darquis (talk) 10:22, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another to add is Batman: Two-Face and Scarecrow Year One - reprints Year One: Batman Scarecrow 1-2, Two-Face: Year One 1-2 - ISBN 978-1-4012-2246-8. Where does this fit in the list? GoingBatty (talk) 20:19, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Career timeline[edit]

Someone has clearly spent a lot of time and effort changing the odd word here and there for the career timeline, but it is still a fairly blatant copy vio of Batman: The Ultimate Guide to the Dark Knight. Thoughts on how to proceed before I simply delete the entire section? Blackmetalbaz (talk) 11:34, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Three Titles canceling after March 2011[edit]

DC’s March 2011 solicitations shows that three Batman titles will be canceled after March 2011 (Batman Confidential, Batman: Streets of Gotham and Azrael.[1][2]

Make sure you have read the graphic novel collection fully before you put it in Modern Batman[edit]

So apparently some guy put Batman: Arkham Reborn in the wrong spot. It takes place after this whole current story arc. Thanks to whoever this fellow was, the identity of the Black Mask is now spoiled for me. I go by the order of those on this list here when I am reading the series (it does say it is based on the chronology of events after all). Thanks to you that moment in Batman: Life After Death is probably ruined and I know the outcome of the whole arc. In the future actually read the collected book BEFORE you put it in the list. That way we don't get spoilers. I mean yes I should have realised that Arkham wouldn't be rebuilt while all the chaos is still going on, and should have realised something was up with a character being there who shouldn't, but I would have expected whoever put that there to have put it there for a reason (maybe it wasn't directly tied to the batman story arc, but something involving Final Crisis I thought), not just dropped it there randomly without having actually read it first. If you're going to edit this wiki, do it right please. If you were trolling, then good job, you succeeded in annoying me. =/ (No one likes having the end of a story told early) As for actual placement, I think it should go at least after Return of Bruce Wayne, which I have not read yet, but it's better than the current placement and makes more sense. Hpelgrift (talk) 05:51, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, if you don't like spoilers, don't read an encyclopedia entry about a subject. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 14:21, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You completely missed the point I am afraid. :p The problem isn't spoilers in the list (that is unavoidable), but that the list was out of order and so it gave someone using the list a certain story far too early. That is not a matter of merely being a spoiler, it is a matter of poor editing (as the list is supposed to be based on chronology of events). Please read all of what someone is saying before you reply next time. =) Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie Say Shalom! 17:44, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notes about the conversion[edit]

I've converted the bulleted lists into sortable tables, this allows readers to view the lists by starting cover date, ending cover date or title. In doing this a few things have been changed:

  • All of the dates have been converted cover dates.
  • The lists have been expanded to include the other titles focusing on other characters in the "Batman Family".
  • The lists are grouped by "type" of publication - ongoing, Annuals, limited series, one-shots, and intercompany projects.
    • One-shots includes graphic novels, "Specials" by title, and the like.
    • Titles using Wildstorm characters published after DC acquired the studio were moved out of the "intercompany" list.
  • Attempts to divide material by continuity have been removed. Frankly that degree of fan-oriented OR does not belong here.
  • With the exception of the Outsiders and Birds of Prey, team books have been removed. Those two started as "Batman's team" and "Barbara's team". The JLA, JSA, Titans, and Suicide Squad didn't.

LODK and B:DK[edit]

Long and the short: The entries are based on the indicia of the comics at the time of publication.

  • Legends of the Dark Knight was the title the series was launched with in 1989. "Batman:" was added to the indicia in 1992. This also affected the annuals.
  • Miller's mini was published under the title Batman: The Dark Knight. "Returns" only appeared on the cover of the first issue and not in the indicia. Batman: The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight were used as publication titles of collected editions, not the mini. This does mean that the 2011 series are volumes 2 and 3.

The New 52[edit]

I'm relatively new to this page, but... I noticed the lack of mention of current comics, starting with September 2011. Second volumes of Batman, Detective Comics, Batman & Robin, Batman: The Dark Knight, a new volume of Nightwing, Batgirl, Batwoman, Huntress, Catwoman, and finally, Batwing. Plus, Penguin: Pain & Prejudice limited series, and several new upcoming one-shots... Could I place these books into the list, or should someone more... experienced with the subject do it? ---SolanSarr — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.73.242.32 (talk) 05:30, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The lists should be updated. - J Greb (talk) 23:21, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So...
Added ongoings:
  • Batgirl v4
  • Batman v2
  • Batman: The Dark Knight v3
  • Batman & Robin v2
  • Batwing
  • Birds of Prey v3
  • Catwoman v4
  • Detective Comics v2
  • Nightwing v3
Minis:
  • Batman: Odyssey v2
  • Huntress v3
  • Penguin: Pain & Prejudice
And one shots:
  • Batman 80-Page Giant 2011
  • DC Retroactive: Batman - The '70s
  • DC Retroactive: Batman - The '80s
  • DC Retroactive: Batman - The '90s
Batwoman is just a continuation after a 10 month delay.
And I'm thinking Red Hood and the Outlaws may be valid to include.

Missing Miniseries[edit]

http://www.comicvine.com/dc-comics-presents-batman/49-36283/

  • DC Comics Presents: Batman 100-page Spectacular

It looks like there is no mention of it in the list.

> Was wrong... not miniseries, but just collection of issues from ongoings...

Red Hood?[edit]

Red Hood is a part of Batman-related series, so he must be in the list along with Nightwing, Batwing, Azrael... Just put in the latest "Red Hood and the outlaws". By the way, what to do with these, and is there more? Admins, help:)

http://www.comicvine.com/red-hood-the-lost-days-the-lost-days/37-276340/ [Actuall limited series - will add]

http://www.comicvine.com/batman-under-the-hood/49-36578/ [Well, this is just reprints from "Batman" ongoing]

-SolanSarr — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.126.89.238 (talk) 19:38, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lets see...
  • Red Hood and the Outlaws was moved from where you added it to where it actually is visible. You don't need to add it again.
  • You added Red Hood the Lost Days in a broken format.
  • The trade is under List of Batman comics#Modern Batman

Batman: Through the Looking Glass and Batman: Earth One[edit]

Batman: Through the Looking Glass one-shot is missing from the list. It's one of the most recent publications. Also, Batman: Earth One is nowhere to be seen. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.185.85.8 (talk) 13:09, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Spin-off titles[edit]

Should we really include all the spin-off characters titles and the comics with all the countless Batfamily characters? It seems a little much. I think it would be better to have separate lists for that.

Reference for Spawn/Batman in Intercompany crossovers[edit]

Can someone please find references, any references, for Spawn/Batman: Inner Demons? I think there's got to be something out there somewhere.

And can someone please put the same information and reference in the Spawn/Batman Wikipedia article. The talk page for that article doesn't have any place to mention it.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Malcolmlucascollins (talk) 01:32, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Switching a referred-to story[edit]

Could someone please switch Batman: Brotherhood of the Bat from 1995 to January 1995? I've looked at how it's written and I don't know how to do it.

The Batman Who Laughs[edit]

I don't see any of the Batman Who Laughs titles in this list. Shouldn't they be in here as well? Or am I missing something here. First time on this page.
