A second restaurant?[edit]

Where is she now? Mozambique? Amsterdam? Elsewhere?[edit]

Unsuprisingly for a peripatetic creator of fictions about herself, her current location is hard to pin down. Specifically:

1. This Wiki entry says, possibly incorrectly:

St Aubin de Terán now lives with her partner Mees van Deth in Mossuril, Nampula Province, Mozambique, where she has set up the Terán Foundation.

but the cited website from her foundation does not (any longer?) say where she lives (or with whom). I will try to update it to accurately reflect some of the following.

2. Her blog and personal website (staubindeteran.com), linked from the Teran Foundation site and other sites, is apparently no longer updated and now goes to a bunch of furniture ads.

3. Another personal website (www.lisastaubindeteran.com/p/quick-bio.html) (undated), says "In 2004 she decided to relocate to Mozambique with her current partner Mees van Deth. Since then she runs Teran Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation based in the underdeveloped coastal, rural districts of northern Mozambique."

4. A sort of blog on that site (http://www.lisastaubindeteran.com/) includes a few recent entries apparently written from Mozambique and the Netherlands:

- from December 2016 "Merry Xmas 2016 to all friends and family from Mozambique"
- from November 2012 describing "the little village where I live" (in Mozambique) but also saying "It feels bizarre to be sitting high up in a stately old house in northern Europe working out the logistics of just how deep to dig the fish ponds, and ... wondering which fingerlings will do best behind the beach so far away in northern Mozambique"
- from November 2012 "It is extremely cold today: so cold I am longing to head back to Africa"
- from November 2012 "I walked a bit around Amsterdam today, ignoring the chill wind and heavy sky."

5. Her publisher's site for "Mozambique Mysteries" at littlebrown.co.uk (which lists it as published in 2010, which seems wrong, but so is from that year or later) says "Lisa St Aubin de Teran is the author of Otto, The Hacienda and Southpaw. She divides her time between her film company, Radiant Pictures, in Holland and her new life in Mozambique".

6. Her bio at literature.britishcouncil.uk (undated but at least 2007) includes this: "She currently divides her time between the Netherlands and Mozambique, where she runs the Terán Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation working in the underdeveloped villages in the north of the country. Her experiences are described in the memoir Mozambique Mysteries (2007)."

7. Her publisher's site for 3 US publications of her books, harpercollins.com (undated), says "She is the founder and managing director of the Teran Foundation, a charitable organization that works to establish schools and farm projects in the north of Mozambique. She lives in Amsterdam."

8. A 2005 profile in The Independent ("Stronger Than Fiction") includes "Now living in Amsterdam with her partner Mees Van Deth, she runs a film company and has set up the Terán Foundation in Mozambique." Sullidav (talk) 15:12, 21 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
