Rename the article[edit]

Since there a lot of "lion monuments" around the globe, from various ages, the name must change. Maybe for the locals it is "The Lion Monument", but for the rest of the world it has to be differentiated from all the others. Therefore i propose to change the name to "Lion of Lucerne sculpture" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.210.178.71 (talk) 06:47, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Corrections[edit]

I deleted a link to Altishofen because the link was to the city of Altishofen when what is being referred to is a person. If this correction is not proper please change it back.--MrNiceGuy1113 (talk) 18:33, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pig shape[edit]

The story of pig-shaped grotto "produced" by Thorvaldsen following disagreement over payment is widely known. However it's highly unlikely, given especially the fact that Thorvaldsen only designed the monument, and the actual work was carried out by other sculptors. Is this story worth being mentioned? • I don't think so. It seems to be just a whimsical myth, probably dating from well after the completion of the monument and based on a coincidence. One might have expected the local populace or the families of the dead Swiss Guards to have noticed an intended insult on such a scale while work was still in progress. There would be less laborious and risky ways of avenging a funding grievance.
